Marketing in Brussels
Marketing agency for Brussels companies
Websites, search and ads for a city that buys in French, Dutch and English.
Nineteen municipalities, three languages of search
A marketing agency in Brussels has to work in more languages than anywhere else in Belgium. The region counts nineteen municipalities and about 1.26 million residents, it is officially bilingual French and Dutch, and with the EU institutions, NATO and hundreds of international companies, a large share of business buyers work in English.
This page is for the international buyer in Brussels: an office, a company or a startup that needs its website, search visibility or ads to reach French, Dutch and English speakers. It shows how each group searches, what every language version needs, what agencies charge and how the regional digitalisation grant works. It also says where VBS fits.

What Brussels search tells you
On 24 October 2026 we asked Google in Belgium, once per language, how people search for an agency in Brussels. The pattern in the figure is clear. French carries almost every service: 'agence web bruxelles', 'agence seo bruxelles', 'agence google ads bruxelles'. English is strong for the big categories, marketing, web design, SEO and social media. Dutch is strong only for the classic agencies: 'marketingbureau brussel', 'reclamebureau brussel', 'communicatiebureau brussel'. Type 'seo brussel' in Dutch and Google answers in English.
One French suggestion stood out: 'création site web bruxelles prime digitalisation'. French-speaking business owners link a new website directly to the regional grant. More on that grant below.
What each language version needs
| Language | Who searches in it | What the version needs |
|---|---|---|
| French | the majority of local companies and households, clients from Wallonia | full pages written on French terms, French prices with VAT, a French Business Profile description |
| English | international companies, EU and NATO staff, startups with English-speaking teams | English pages on English terms, not a translation; prices in euros, a clear note on VAT |
| Dutch | Flemish companies in Brussels and buyers from Flanders | Dutch pages on Belgian Dutch terms, which differ from those in the Netherlands |
The trap is to write one version and translate it twice. Search terms are not translations: 'agence web' and 'web agency' are different searches with different competitors, and the French term often has more searches. Each version needs its own term map and its own titles. How we build that on one domain is explained in multilingual website development.
Choosing an agency in Brussels
- Choose a large agency ifyou run national campaigns in two or three languages with a budget to match, and want one contact steering several teams.
- Choose a freelancer ifyou need one channel in one language, for example Google Ads in French, and manage the rest yourself.
- Choose an agency that builds and runs search ifyour site, rankings and ads do not connect, or if you need the same quality in each language. A site translated by one party, optimised by another and advertised by a third rarely ends up consistent.
Ask every agency the same question: who writes the French version, who writes the Dutch one, and are they native speakers of that language? If the answer is a translation tool, expect the version to rank badly.
What marketing costs in Brussels
Brussels agencies charge roughly what agencies elsewhere in Belgium charge, but multilingual work multiplies the writing. Ranges Belgian agencies quote for a small or medium business, excluding VAT and ad spend:
| Service | Per month | Multilingual effect |
|---|---|---|
| SEO | 800 to 2,000 euros | each language needs its own pages and terms |
| Google Ads management | 500 to 1,500 euros | one campaign per language, each with its own ads |
| Full service across channels | 2,000 to 5,000 euros | more content, more reporting |
The complete overview is in our guide to digital agency cost. VBS works with a fixed price per project after a first conversation; a first website starts at 1,500 euros.
The Brussels digitalisation grant
Brussels is the only region in Belgium where a public grant can pay part of a new website. The digitalisation grant of Brussels Economy and Employment covers 25 percent of eligible costs, rising to at most 70 percent and 10,000 euros with increases for startups and for companies recognised as exemplary on environmental or social grounds. The minimum is 500 euros per project and you can claim two projects per calendar year. It was kept when the region suspended several other grants on 12 August 2026.
The conditions matter. Your company must be an SME with a business unit in the Brussels region, in an eligible sector, and you apply at the latest the day before the project starts. The project must be a one-off consultancy mission of at most six months, including the development or technical upgrade of your website. The consultant must have that consultancy as their main activity, be specialised in it, have done it for at least two years and be independent of your company. Not every web builder meets that profile, so check it with the provider before you count on the grant. We have not assessed whether VBS work qualifies, and we do not promise it does.
Where your buyers are
Brussels is not one market. The European quarter around Schuman and the Luxembourg square is English-speaking business; Uccle and the two Woluwes are wealthy residential communes; Anderlecht, Molenbeek and Schaerbeek are dense, young and largely French-speaking. A campaign that treats the region as one place pays for clicks it does not need. Start from your clients' addresses, pick the communes, and write the ads and pages in the language most of them read.
Mistakes we see in Brussels
- Only EnglishFine for the EU bubble, invisible to most local customers. If you sell locally, French comes first.
- Machine-translated French or DutchNative readers notice at once, and so does your conversion rate.
- Targeting all of BelgiumA dentist in Uccle has no use for clicks from Ostend. Target the municipalities where your clients are.
- No Business Profile per languageGoogle shows your profile description in one language; write it for your largest group of clients, and keep the categories accurate. Our guide to creating a Google Business Profile covers the set-up.
If search is your first priority, read our page on an SEO agency in Brussels; if you are rebuilding your site, see web design in Brussels.
For Business Centrum, a payroll and HR office in Ghent, we built a site in Dutch, French, English and Turkish, each language written on its own terms. In five weeks their impressions in Google grew from 220 to 10,200 a day. We built four-language sites for FK Boekhouding and K&A Law as well.
Business Centrum, written per language

- 10,200
- non-brand search terms on page one, up from 13

How we work for a company in Brussels
We start with your buyers and their languages, then build a term map per language and write the pages for it, with the same team that builds the site and runs the ads. Our office is on the Sint-Baafsplein in Ghent, under an hour by car or train from central Brussels; we work in English when your team does.
If you need a site first, see our website design service; for the map pack, local SEO; for ads, Facebook and Instagram ads and Google Ads. Companies outside Belgium find us through our page on a web development agency in Europe.

Local SEO
How VBS helps you with this
We get you found in your own town and region: a page for every town that earns one, a Google profile in order, and the terms locals really type.
- Town and region pages with their own content, never a copy with a new place name
- Your Google Business Profile and reviews
- Tracking per search term and per town
How we approach it is on our page about Local SEO.
Tell us which languages your buyers speak
In a first conversation we look at your site and the terms your buyers use in each language, and tell you what to build first.
