Marketing for construction companies: a new-build home by SN Group in grey brick, a builder whose site and reels we made

Construction marketing

Marketing for construction companies that brings quote requests

Checks that let homeowners run their own numbers, guides in Google, and footage from your own sites.

Homeowners choose a builder months before they call

Marketing for construction companies turns on one moment: the homeowner thinking about a renovation who wants to know what it costs, which rules apply and whether they need a permit. Whoever gives the answer then gets the quote request later.

We learned that building the site, calculators and reels for SN Group, a builder in Ghent. Below: the searches that bring work, what a lead costs per channel at published averages, how to handle reviews and prices, and what you can do this month.

A building client, months before the quote

  1. 1Months beforeAn idea and a questionWhat does a full renovation cost, which grant do I get, must I renovate after buying? Guides in Google catch them here.
  2. 2Weeks beforeRunning the numbersA cost calculator and a VAT check on your site: they price their own project and get to know you.
  3. 3The choiceThree builders side by sideProjects in their area, real photos, a clear working area. This is where you win or lose.
  4. 4The requestA quote request with the right detailsThe form asks for address, kind of work and photos, so your site visit makes sense straight away.
  5. 5AfterFollow-up and staying visibleReels from your sites on Instagram and Facebook, and follow-up so no request is left waiting.

The searches that bring a builder work

Homeowners search in three ways, and each one is won by a different page.

What the homeowner typesWhat they want to knowThe page that wins it
bathroom renovation plus their townwho does this near me, and what did it look likea page per kind of work with projects from that town and real photos
cost of a full renovation per square metrea first idea of the budgeta guide with honest price ranges in a table, and what moves the price
grants, permits, energy rules, VAT on renovationwhat applies to my house and my situationa short check or page that answers in one sentence, then explains
builder reviews plus their towncan I trust this companyyour Google Business Profile with recent reviews and photos

The third row is the one most builders leave empty, and the one where a builder knows more than any portal. Every country has its own: reduced VAT rates for renovating older homes, energy-label rules after a purchase, grants that change every year. A builder who explains the local rules clearly, with a check that gives the homeowner their own answer, is found by people months before they ask for quotes.

A guide in the homeowner's own language

Not every buyer in Ghent reads Dutch. SN Group's site runs in Dutch and English, with guides written for them: what the renovation duty means after a purchase, what a renovation costs, which grants exist.

An English-speaking buyer who finds that guide finds the builder with it. Every guide ends where the homeowner's next step starts: a check, a calculator or a quote.

What a lead costs, per channel

ChannelWhat you payBenchmark
Google Ads, United Statesper click and per lead in home and remodellingon average 8.33 dollars a click and 90.92 dollars a lead
Facebook and Instagram, United Statesper lead from a lead campaign in home and remodellingon average 42.95 dollars a lead
Google Ads, Belgiumper click on construction and renovation termsmostly 1.50 to 5.00 euros a click
A check, calculator and guides in Googlea one-off build, then no price per clickrequests from homeowners who already ran their numbers

Ads bring requests as long as you pay; checks and guides keep working. Most builders do best with both: ads for the work they want more of this season, and pages for everything else.

Area pages that are more than a town name

A builder who works in twenty towns is tempted to make twenty pages that swap only the place name. Google's spam policies call that doorway abuse: substantially similar pages made to rank for similar searches. They get ignored, and they can pull the rest of the site down with them. An area page works when it carries something of its own: projects you finished in that town with photos, the kind of houses you meet there, how far you travel, who on your team lives nearby. Start with the three towns that bring most of your work. Which words homeowners really type is a matter of research, not guessing; the method is in keyword research, the writing in SEO copywriting, and where your current site loses those searches, an SEO audit shows. Reviews, the map and prices on your site

For "builder" plus a town, Google shows the map first, and the map leans on reviews. Ask every client at handover, in the same way, with one short link. Google forbids asking only the happy ones and any reward for a review; reviews that come in that way disappear. Make the link and a printable QR code with the Google review link generator; when and how to ask is in get more Google reviews, and how the map works in local SEO.

Many builders hesitate to show prices. Homeowners want a first idea before they call. A range per square metre in a guide, or a calculator that gives a first estimate with the conditions next to it, filters out the requests that never had a budget and brings in those that do. The final price stays the quote after the site visit.

Hiring: the other lead you need

Many builders do not lack clients but people. The same footage that sells your work sells your company to a carpenter or a site manager: a reel from the site, a page per job with what the work involves, and a short form that works on a phone. We run those campaigns next to your client campaigns, through social media management.

Software behind the requests

A request that comes in has to be followed up: a site visit planned, a quote written, a job scheduled. For your own team we build software for construction companies and construction scheduling software, and AI for construction that turns a site visit into a first draft of a quote. What belongs on the site itself is on website for contractors.

What you can do yourself this month

  1. On every job that finishes, take ten photos from the same angles: the start, the work in progress, the result.
  2. Put each project on your site with the town, the kind of work and one sentence on what the client wanted.
  3. Write one page on the rule your clients ask about most, with a worked example in numbers.
  4. Check your request form: does it ask for the address, the kind of work and photos? Then you know before the visit whether the job fits.

SEO

How VBS brings a builder more requests

We build your site with projects, checks and guides on homeowners' questions, film your sites for reels and Facebook and Instagram ads, and measure which channels bring requests. For SN Group we built a cost calculator and an energy label calculator (two calculation tools) and four checks (grant, renovation duty, permit, VAT) on a register of 761 facts, in Dutch and English; their sitemap holds 118 pages. How we pick search terms is on SEO. Book a call.
