Marketing in Kortrijk
Marketing agency in Kortrijk
For companies that exhibit at fairs, sell across the language border and want to see enquiries.
A city of makers, trade fairs and neighbours in France
A marketing agency in Kortrijk works for a different kind of company than in Ghent or Antwerp. The region lives off manufacturers, interiors, textiles, food and trade, and many of those firms sell to other firms, exhibit at fairs and have clients in Wallonia and northern France. Lille is half an hour's drive; Kortrijk Xpo sits in the city itself.
This page is for a company in Kortrijk that works in English: a Belgian plant of a foreign group, an exporter whose sales team speaks English with buyers, a founder who moved here from abroad. You read how to turn a trade fair calendar into a marketing plan, how to advertise in French for northern France, which languages your buyers and staff expect, what the city of Kortrijk funds and what an agency costs. VBS is on the Sint-Baafsplein in Ghent, about 35 minutes by car from Kortrijk; we would rather say so up front.

Dates from the Kortrijk Xpo calendar for autumn 2026 and spring 2027.
A trade fair calendar as a marketing plan
Kortrijk Xpo is full in the coming months: Interpom, the trade fair for the potato industry, from 29 November to 1 December 2026; Velofollies, the cycling fair, from 22 to 24 January 2027; See-days, the trade day for safety, environment and energy, on 18 February; and SID-in, the study and careers fair, from 25 to 27 February. In 2028 Agro-Expo comes to Kortrijk Xpo for the first time. For an exhibitor every fair is three campaigns: one before, one during, one after.
| Moment | What you do | Channel |
|---|---|---|
| Six to four weeks before | invite existing clients and prospects, book meetings at the stand | email, LinkedIn, a page with your stand number and what is new |
| Two weeks before | show the new product you are bringing | a short video on LinkedIn and Instagram, an ad aimed at fair visitors in the region |
| During | note every conversation with what the visitor was looking for | a form on a tablet, not a stack of business cards |
| First week after | follow up everyone with what they asked | a personal email, a quote, a sample |
| A month after | contact again whoever did not reply | a newsletter, a retargeting ad |
The mistake we see most: the stand costs tens of thousands of euros, and after the fair a stack of cards lies on a desk for three weeks. The follow-up is where a fair earns itself back.
Three languages around one city
If your team works in English, Kortrijk asks you to plan in three languages. Local buyers and suppliers work in Dutch, buyers in Mouscron, Tournai and the Lille metropolitan area in French, and buyers further away in English or German.
| Who | Language | What it means for you |
|---|---|---|
| Flemish clients and suppliers | Dutch | product pages, quotes and fair material in Dutch |
| Buyers in Wallonia and northern France | French | French pages on French search terms, French ads |
| Buyers in the rest of Europe | English, sometimes German | English product pages with specifications and certificates |
| Your own staff in Flanders | Dutch | employment contracts, work rules and pay slips in Dutch, under the Flemish language decree |
| Your meetings with us | English or Dutch | your choice, the material in every language you sell in |
The staff rule is the one foreign owners miss most: a company based in Flanders uses Dutch in its relations with its employees, whatever language the team speaks at work. A vacancy for SID-in or your careers page can be in English as well, but the documents your staff sign follow that rule.
Across the language border and in northern France
Two things help with French-speaking buyers.
- French pages on French search termsA French visitor types 'menuiserie', not 'schrijnwerk', and often 'Courtrai' instead of Kortrijk. On our page about SEO in Kortrijk you see which Kortrijk services Google also suggests in French.
- Ads aimed at France, in FrenchIn Google Ads and Meta you aim a campaign at the Nord department or towns around Lille, with French copy and a French landing page. Show prices the way a French client expects them, with the right VAT (your accountant tells you which), and state your delivery time to France.
How a site in two or more languages works on one domain is on multilingual website development. We built sites in four languages, French included, for a law firm and for Business Centrum.
What the city of Kortrijk funds
Kortrijk does not fund marketing or a website. It does pay towards what draws shops and traders to its centres, through Onderneem in Kortrijk, the economy department on the Leiestraat.
| Scheme | For whom | Amount |
|---|---|---|
| Attraction grant | anyone opening a shop or craft business in a shopping centre, not hospitality or a takeover | 10,000 euros in zone A, 5,000 euros in zone B (centre, Overleie, Doorniksewijk), 2,500 euros in the centres of the sub-municipalities |
| Project grant for traders' associations | a street association of at least three traders | up to 1,000 euros per project, 100 percent of the costs, up to 2,000 euros a year; 1,500 euros when roadworks hinder trade |
| Kortrijk Kiemt | starting entrepreneurs in the former AZ Groeninge hospital on the Reepkaai | no rent, 75 to 100 euros a month for management and utilities |
The project grant for traders' associations is the most useful one for marketing: a joint action, campaign or stunt by the street can be reimbursed in full. What Flanders funds for digital projects is in our guide to Flanders digitalisation grants, and the short version in website grants in Belgium.
Kortrijk Kiemt and your first clients
If you start out in Kortrijk, since 1 October 2026 you can rent a workplace in Kortrijk Kiemt, in the former hospital on the Reepkaai: three workshops, six desks in an open space and three flexible places, for 75 to 100 euros a month or 7.50 to 10 euros a day, until at least July 2028. For a starter that is a marketing moment too: an address, a network of other starters and events on the site. Put your address in your Google Business Profile and on your site straight away, and say in your first posts where you are.
How the Kortrijk region searches
Google in Belgium suggests not only 'marketing agency kortrijk' for the region, but also 'creative agency kortrijk' and, in Dutch, 'reclamebureau kortrijk' and 'communicatiebureau kortrijk'. For your own company it works the same way: buyers in the region type their service with 'kortrijk' or 'regio kortrijk', and in French with 'courtrai'.
What an agency costs
Kortrijk agencies charge what agencies elsewhere in Flanders charge: SEO 800 to 2,000 euros a month, Google Ads management 500 to 1,500 euros, and a full-service package 2,000 to 5,000 euros, each without your ad budget and without VAT. More in digital agency cost. A fair often needs one-off work on top: a video, a landing page, a series of emails. VBS charges a fixed price per assignment, after a first conversation, with the proposal in English if you prefer.
What a trade fair video should show
A short video on your stand and in your posts before the fair works best when it says in ten seconds what you make and for whom. Film your product in use, not your logo. Add subtitles in Dutch, French and English, because a fair hall is loud and half your visitors watch without sound. And reuse the footage after the fair: in your follow-up emails, on your product pages and in a reel for those who were not there.
Four mistakes of Kortrijk B2B firms
- A site that only speaks to the boardA buyer wants specifications, certificates, delivery times and a contact person. Put those on a page per product or service.
- No French version, but French clientsA French-speaking buyer who reads your site in Dutch calls a competitor more often.
- LinkedIn as a notice boardA company page with only news from the board reaches few people. Posts from your people, with a face and a concrete story, do.
- Fairs without measuringNote per fair how many conversations, quotes and orders came out of it. That tells you which fair to skip next year.

What VBS does for a Kortrijk company
We build or rewrite the pages a buyer looks for, in Dutch, French and English, and run the campaigns around your fairs: invite, show, follow up. The same team builds the site and measures what each fair and each campaign brought in.
For video we work on location: a promotional film like the one for an accounting firm in Ghent, or short reels of your product. More at corporate video, SEO and Facebook and Instagram ads.
Questions from Kortrijk business owners
- Is an agency from Ghent not too far for a Kortrijk company?
- We drive about 35 minutes to Kortrijk and come over for a first meeting, a shoot or a fair. The rest of the work happens online, with one fixed contact.
- Can I advertise in France from a Belgian account?
- Yes. Google and Meta let you aim at French regions and towns. You do need French copy and a French landing page, and clear delivery terms for France.
- Does the city of Kortrijk pay towards my marketing?
- Not directly. A street association can use the project grant for traders' associations for a joint action or campaign; anyone opening a shop in a shopping centre can apply for the attraction grant.
- Our team works in English. Is that a problem?
- Not for us: we meet, write proposals and report in English. We write the Dutch and French pages your buyers read, and you approve them with an English version beside them.
- Do you also work for companies in Waregem, Menen or Harelbeke?
- Yes. Waregem is about 27 minutes from our office; the rest of the Kortrijk region lies in between.
