Web design in Kortrijk

Web design in Kortrijk with a French version: the French home page of a law firm's site that we built in four languages

A site that convinces a French buyer and brings in a quote, 25 kilometres from Lille.

Kortrijk looks south

Web design in Kortrijk is building for a city with one foot in France.

Kortrijk has 81,523 residents and lies 25 kilometres from Lille, in the Eurometropolis Lille-Kortrijk-Tournai where about 2.1 million people live. At the end of 2025, 10,132 companies had their seat in the city. Among them are firms like Barco, the halls of Kortrijk Xpo with Interieur and Busworld, and a long row of manufacturers in Kortrijk, Waregem and Harelbeke that export. Many of them work in English every day, with a foreign parent, a sales team that talks to buyers across Europe, or managers who moved here. For them a site is not a business card but a salesperson that has to bring in a quote in three languages. This page says which site fits, which parts must exist in which language, what it costs and which local support Kortrijk has.

Advice for a manufacturer exporting to France and beyond; a shop in the centre of Kortrijk has a different split.

B2B in three languages: what a buyer looks for

A French buyer looking for a supplier types in French and expects an answer in French. They read your product page, compare specifications and want to ask for a quote without calling first. An English-speaking buyer from Germany or Scandinavia does the same in English. Your Dutch site does not help them, even if they can read it with a translate button: Google does not show them your page, because no French or English version exists.

The effect is concrete. A Kortrijk manufacturer with a site in one language does not show up in France on the product name, only on the company name, for people who already know it. A site in three languages gets you found by people who do not know you yet. In English, Google confirms the demand: 'web agency kortrijk' and 'web designer kortrijk' come back as searches, the latter with 'belgium' and 'belgie' added.

A French version that is not translated Dutch

A good French version follows the French buyer, not the Dutch text. In practice:

  • Other words, other search termsAn 'offerte' is a 'devis', a 'werkbon' a 'bon d'intervention'. Find out per language what your client types and put that in your titles.
  • French references firstA project in Lille or Lyon convinces a French buyer more than ten projects in West Flanders.
  • Mandatory detailsIf you sell to consumers in France, extra rules apply to your site. For B2B your company number and contact details are enough; see company number on your website. For contracts and terms abroad, ask a lawyer.
  • A form in the buyer's languageA French form with Dutch error messages loses the buyer.

That the French buyer also gets to see the French page is arranged by hreflang: every page points to its French and English counterpart. How that works technically and in your own editing is on our page about multilingual website development; what else an export site needs is in website for an export business.

If your team works in English

A plant with an English-speaking management often writes its site in English first and has it translated. That works if the translations are written for each market, not copied. And keep the local language rules in mind:

PartLanguageNote
Product pages and quote formDutch, French and Englisheach market its own search terms

Reaching French clients: a .be with /fr/ or a .fr of its own

Two ways to set up a French version. For most Kortrijk companies the first wins.

Editing
One domain with /fr/one site, one place to change everything
A separate .fr domaintwo sites, updates and hosting twice
Authority in Google
One domain with /fr/every link to your site helps all languages
A separate .fr domainthe new domain starts from zero
Trust with a French client
One domain with /fr/good, if the French version is complete
A separate .fr domainsomewhat higher for consumers in France
Cost per year
One domain with /fr/one domain and one hosting
A separate .fr domaintwo domains, often two hostings
When to choose
One domain with /fr/B2B, export next to your Belgian market
A separate .fr domaina French branch or shop of your own

If you export from Kortrijk to France, start with /fr/ on your own domain. A .fr only pays off with a branch and a team of your own in France.

Trade fairs, product pages and quotes

Kortrijk Xpo draws visitors from all over Europe every year to fairs such as Interieur and Busworld. If you exhibit, after the fair you get visitors on your site who want to find a product they saw on the stand. Three things then make the difference:

  1. A page per product or product line, with the name as on the stand, specifications and photos. Not a 40 MB PDF catalogue that does not open on a phone.
  2. A fairs page with where you will be in the coming months, in every language. After the fair it becomes an overview of what was on show.
  3. A quote form that asks what you really need: quantities, dimensions, delivery country, desired lead time. That way you can send a price range within the day instead of calling first.

If your quote needs a calculation, such as a price per square metre or per configuration, a calculator on your site can give a first price. We built such a cost calculator for SN Group. If the process behind the quote grows big, with work orders and planning, that is more of a platform: read software company in Kortrijk. Local support in Kortrijk

The city mostly supports filling a shop unit in the city centre. With the attraction grant a new business in an empty unit can get 10,000, 5,000 or 2,500 euros, depending on the zone the unit is in; the 2026 rules set which streets belong to which zone. There is also Handel met Karakter for businesses with a face of their own. In 2025, 13.4 percent of the shop units in Kortrijk stood empty, which explains why the city puts its support there.

None of those grants pays for a website directly. Whoever opens a unit does need a site that is found from day one. Which support exists in Flanders for digital projects, and what remains since the SME growth subsidy stopped, is in Flanders digitalisation grants and website grants in Belgium.

What a B2B site costs on the market

What a Kortrijk company buysRange on the Belgian marketWhat drives the price
Company site in one language2,000 to 6,000 euroshow many services and product lines
Catalogue or online shop with ordering4,000 to 15,000 euros or morethe number of products, the link with your stock
Domains and hosting50 to 300 euros a yeara .be with /fr/, or a .fr as well
Updates and small changes200 to 1,000 euros a yearhow often you update fair dates and products

Every extra language is mostly translation plus a second set of titles, descriptions and forms; put it as a separate line in your budget. Our price starts at 1,500 euros for a custom site; after a meeting in your showroom you get a fixed project price. With the website cost calculator you see what a French and English version add to the sum; put quotes from other agencies next to it with compare website quotes.

How we approach an export site from Ghent

Kortrijk is 48 kilometres from our office on the Sint-Baafsplein, 35 minutes by car, and the direct train from Gent-Sint-Pieters takes 25 to 32 minutes. We hold the first meeting on your shop floor or in your showroom, in English or Dutch, so we see what you make.

We have no Kortrijk client, and we would rather say so at once. We do run sites in Dutch, French, English and Turkish that we built for a law firm, an accounting firm and Business Centrum, each with its own titles and search terms per language. For that last firm, the number of search terms without the brand name on page 1 grew from thirteen to 1,593 in five weeks. What we deliver exactly is at website design.

Kortrijk questions about an export site

Which website does a Kortrijk B2B company need to export to France?

A site with a full French version on your own domain, a page per product or product line, French references and a quote form in French. A translate button is not enough: Google does not show an automatic translation to people searching in French.

Do I need an English version too?

If you sell outside France and Belgium, or get visitors from other countries at fairs, yes. Start with the products, the quote form and your references; vacancies and blog can stay in Dutch.

How long does a site in three languages take?

A site in several languages usually takes six to twelve weeks, with one to two weeks per language for translating and proofreading. The copy sets the pace more than the build.

Is there a grant for a website in Kortrijk?

Not directly. The city supports filling empty shop units with the attraction grant. For digital projects, look at Flemish support; the SME wallet stops on 1 January 2027.
