Web design Antwerpen
Web design in Antwerpen (Antwerp)
For firms that work in English and sell to a city that answers in Dutch.

A city that works in English and buys in Dutch
If you search for web design in Antwerpen in English, you are probably one of two people. You run a business in Antwerp with an international team, a foreign owner or English as your working language. Or you moved to Belgium and are starting your own firm in the city. Either way you meet the same problem: your team, your partners and part of your clients read English, while most local customers search, call and buy in Dutch.
Google shows how much Antwerp mixes the two. Type 'web design antwerp' and it completes the query to 'web design antwerpen', with the Dutch city name; 'web agency antwerp' becomes 'web agency antwerpen'. Even English searchers use the local name. A site for an Antwerp business has to work for both.
The city itself explains why. Antwerpen had 565,615 inhabitants on 1 January 2026 and 172 nationalities. At the end of 2025 there were 58,084 companies with their seat in the city, and 7,022 new ones registered that year. Around the port, which handled 266.5 million tonnes of cargo in 2025, sit logistics firms, traders and service companies that work with clients across Europe.

English, Dutch, or both
Start with who contacts you today, not with what feels international.
- Choose English first ifyour clients are international companies, expats or other firms that work in English, and your local customers are a minority. Add a Dutch version for the pages local buyers read: services, prices, contact.
- Choose Dutch first ifyou sell to people who live in Antwerp and the surrounding towns: a dentist, a contractor, a shop in Zurenborg. Add English for expats and international students.
- Choose both in full ifyou sell to both groups and can answer calls and emails in both languages.
Each language needs its own version with its own address, titles and descriptions, so Google can show the Dutch page to a Dutch searcher and the English page to an English one. That is done with hreflang. How to set it up without maintaining two sites is on our page on multilingual website development.

Port firms, shops and practices
Three kinds of Antwerp business ask us for very different sites. A logistics or trading firm near the port sells to buyers across Europe: it needs an English B2B site with a page per service, references, certifications and a quote form, and often a Dutch version for local staff and partners. A shop on the Meir or in Zurenborg sells to people walking past who check opening hours, stock and prices on their phone first. A practice, a dentist or a physiotherapist, needs a page per treatment and online booking, and the rules of the profession on what it may say. Decide which of the three you are before you pick a design, because the structure follows from it.
Districts and how locals search
Antwerpen is split into ten districts, from Berchem and Borgerhout to Wilrijk, Hoboken and Ekeren, and people search by district: Google completes 'webdesign' with Berchem, Hoboken and Wilrijk. If you are a local business, name the district you are in next to your address and the projects you did there. Do not paste a list of every district at the bottom of a page; Google reads that as padding.
Your Google Business Profile matters as much as your site for local searches. The steps are in our guide on how to create a Google Business Profile, and asking for reviews without hassle is easier with the Google review link generator.
What an Antwerp business pays for a site
| What you need | Usual range in Belgium, excl. VAT |
|---|---|
| A single page that says who you are | 500 to 1,500 euros |
| A page for each service, with a contact form | 2,000 to 6,000 euros |
| A shop that takes payments | 4,000 to 15,000 euros or more |
| Domain and server, every year | 50 to 300 euros |
| Updates and small changes, every year | 200 to 1,000 euros |
The Dutch or English second version is mostly translation plus its own titles, descriptions, forms and emails, so it scales with your word count. Our custom sites start at 1,500 euros; once the first conversation has settled the scope, the price is fixed. Play with the options in the website cost calculator, read the reasoning behind the ranges in our guide to website cost, and line up offers with how to compare website quotes.
If you are new to Belgium
Running a business in Antwerp as a newcomer comes with questions a local takes for granted. A few that touch your site directly:
| Question | Short answer | Where to read more |
|---|---|---|
| Must my company number be on the site? | yes, every Belgian business shows it | company number on your website |
| Do I need a cookie banner? | only if you use cookies that are not strictly needed | do I need a cookie banner |
| Do I need a privacy policy? | yes, as soon as you collect personal data through a form | privacy policy |
| Which domain should I pick? | a .be for a Belgian audience, on your own name | choosing a domain name |
Hiring in Antwerp
Many international firms in Antwerp hire people who do not speak Dutch, and many local candidates prefer to read a vacancy in Dutch. A careers page in both languages, with what the job is, where it is and how to apply, reaches both. It is often the most visited page on the site of a growing firm, and the one most often forgotten.
Reviews in two languages
Antwerp customers leave reviews in Dutch, English and French. Answer each one in the language it was written in, briefly and by name. A business that replies to every review looks alive to the next visitor, and Google takes those replies into account for local results. The Google review link generator makes asking easy; get more Google reviews explains when to ask.
Mistakes we see
- A translate button instead of a Dutch versionGoogle does not index a browser translation, so local searchers never find it.
- English titles on Dutch pagesA page in Dutch with an English title confuses both Google and the reader.
- No price signalIn a city with this much choice, a visitor leaves for the firm that shows where its prices start.
- A slow site on mobilePeople search on the tram. Test your own site with our website speed test, and if it does not show up at all, use the website not showing on Google check.
How we work from Ghent
Antwerp is 60 kilometres from our office on the Sint-Baafsplein, 49 minutes by car and about 56 minutes on the direct train to Antwerpen-Centraal. The first meeting happens online or at your office, in English or Dutch, and we come over for photos. You then follow the build on a test address and comment page by page.
We have no client in Antwerp, and we would rather say so. We did build sites in Dutch, French, English and Turkish for Business Centrum, FK Boekhouding and K&A Law; the first of those went from 220 to 10,200 Google impressions a day in five weeks. Our way of working is on website design. If you also need a platform behind the site, read software development in Antwerpen.
