ChatGPT pricing runs from 0 euros on Free to 21 euros per seat per month for a team, and up to 500 dollars a month for a single Pro user on the heaviest models. The bigger difference between plans is not how clever the model is but what happens to your data. On the personal plans, what you type can train OpenAI's models until you switch that off, and nobody at your company controls the accounts. From the business plans up, your input trains nothing by default and you manage the seats yourself.
This guide lines up every plan, works out what a freelancer, a team of ten and a company of 25 pay, and shows when your own assistant on the API costs less. To run your own numbers, use the AI cost calculator.
Every plan at a glance

| Go | Shown in your account | People who want more images and uploads than Free | Trains models until you opt out |
| Plus | 20 dollars | One person using it every day | Trains models until you opt out |
| Pro | 100, 200 or 500 dollars | Heavy users of the strongest models | Trains models until you opt out |
| Business Standard | 21 euros per seat | Teams of 2 to 200 | No training, admin and SSO, storage region rolling out |
| Business Premium | 105 euros per seat | Users who need five times the usage | As Standard |
| Enterprise | Quoted | Large organisations | No training, storage and processing in Europe available |
OpenAI prices Plus and Pro in dollars; inside the European Economic Area you are billed in euros and see the exact amount at checkout. The price of Go shows only inside ChatGPT, after you sign in.
ChatGPT Business pricing for teams
Business costs 21 euros per seat, or 20 dollars per seat on annual billing and 25 dollars month to month. A Premium seat costs 105 euros, or 100 and 125 dollars, and gives five times the usage of Standard without the five-hour limit. You can mix both in one workspace, with at least two seats in total. A company with a VAT number in the EU enters it at checkout; the reverse charge then applies, and you account for the VAT in your own return.

What drives the bill
- Who uses itFree, Go, Plus and Pro are for one person. Business and Enterprise are company workspaces, paid per seat.
- How hard they use itPremium seats and the higher Pro plans buy more usage of the strongest models. On Business and Enterprise you can buy credits on top.
- How you payBusiness is cheaper on annual billing. Go, Plus and Pro are monthly only. Enterprise can be invoiced.
- What GDPR and your customers requireIf data must be stored and processed in Europe, or you want accounts created and closed automatically through SCIM, you end up on Enterprise. Business lets you pick a storage region at checkout, but that option is still rolling out and a copy for abuse monitoring stays in the US for a limited time.

ChatGPT pricing by situation
Our own worked examples: Business in euros, Plus and the API in dollars.
| Situation | Plan | Per month | Per year | Watch out |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Freelancer using it daily | Plus | 20 dollars | 240 dollars | Turn off training on your chats; no client data |
| Office of 5 with client files | Business Standard | 105 euros | 1,260 euros | Does not train, accounts managed by your company |
| Team of 10, two heavy users | 8 Standard, 2 Premium | 378 euros | 4,536 euros | Premium gives five times the usage |
| Team of 10, everyone heavy | 10 Premium | 1,050 euros | 12,600 euros | Check first whether buying credits is cheaper |
| 8 support agents answering customers | API on GPT-6.1 Sol | about 77.44 dollars | about 929 dollars | Plus building the assistant |
The pattern: give a few heavy users a Premium seat rather than everyone, and when many people share one narrow task, do the sums with the API. What AI can do for a business beyond chat is in ChatGPT vs Claude and ChatGPT vs Gemini.
Free, Go or Plus for a freelancer
If you work alone you choose among the personal plans. Free is enough to learn what ChatGPT can do, with limits on uploads, images and data analysis and, in some countries, ads; what changed there is in ChatGPT ads in Europe. Go gives more of that for less than Plus; OpenAI shows its price only inside your account. Plus at 20 dollars a month is for daily use on texts, quotes and analyses. On all three, what you type can train models until you turn that off, and temporary chats never train. If you handle client data, turn it off at once, or choose Business from two people.
What the price leaves out
- The APIAnything you build on OpenAI's models yourself, such as a chatbot for your customers or a link with your CRM, is billed separately per use. No ChatGPT subscription covers it.
- Extra usageWhen people hit their limit, they wait or you buy credits.
- Setting it upProjects with your price lists, standing instructions and rules on what never goes in take someone's time in the first weeks.
When your own assistant on the API is cheaper
A worked example of our own. An online shop wants its eight support agents to look up product and return questions through an assistant, forty a day each. That is 7,040 questions a month. Each question sends about 4,000 tokens in, the question plus the relevant product and policy text, and gets 300 back.
- On ChatGPT seatseight Standard seats cost 160 dollars a month on annual billing, or 200 month to month.
- On the API with GPT-6.1 Sol(2 dollars per million tokens in, 10 out): 56.32 dollars for input plus 21.12 for answers, 77.44 dollars a month.
- On the API with GPT-6 Luna(0.10 in, 0.50 out): about 3.87 dollars a month.
For eight agents the seats are not expensive, and they give each agent a full assistant for everything else too. The API wins on two other counts: when many people need one narrow task, and when the assistant has to answer your customers, because ChatGPT seats are for your own staff only. Then the real cost is the build: clean product and policy content, testing, the link with your shop and helpdesk, and upkeep. What such a build involves is on AI automation.
Agreements that save money and trouble
- An AI policyWhat may go in, what may not, and who checks the answers? Under the EU AI Act, employers must also ensure AI literacy of staff using AI since February 2025; see do I need an AI policy and the EU AI Act checker.
- One seat per personA shared account looks cheap but you lose oversight and break the terms.
- Not everyone on PremiumStart on Standard and give Premium to those who really hit the limit.
- A quarterly reviewWho still uses their seat? An idle seat is 21 euros a month.
Prices that move
OpenAI shows Business in euros and its other plans in dollars, and changes prices and plans often: new Pro 200 subscribers got a lower usage allowance in September 2026. Check the price at checkout, and every quarter who still uses their seat.
Questions that come up on the ChatGPT bill
How much does ChatGPT cost per month?
Free costs nothing. Plus is 20 dollars a month and Pro 100, 200 or 500 dollars. For a team, Business costs 21 euros per seat per month, or 20 dollars on annual billing; Premium seats are 105 euros. Enterprise is quoted.
Is ChatGPT Business worth it for a small company?
If more than one person uses ChatGPT for work, yes: it stops your input from training the models, gives you admin control and SSO, and costs about the same per person as Plus.
Can I use free ChatGPT for work?
You can, but your input can train the models until you opt out, and nobody at your company controls the account. Keep customer data out of it.
What happened to ChatGPT Team?
OpenAI renamed Team to Business on 29 August 2025. Premium seats were added later.
Is the API included in my plan?
No. API usage is billed separately per token, also if you have Plus, Pro or Business.
What does ChatGPT cost for a team of ten?
Ten Standard seats on Business cost 210 euros a month. Eight Standard and two Premium cost 378 euros, ten Premium 1,050 euros.
