Contacts, deals and a chat with no trial period
HubSpot's free tools do not expire after a month. You track contacts, companies and deals, see emails and calls per client, and get forms, a live chat and a meeting scheduler. The limit is 1,000 contacts and 1,000 other records, such as deals and companies. For a founder who wants to track leads that is often enough; what a CRM is, is explained under CRM, and how to choose between packages in Teamleader alternatives.
| Plan | Per seat per month | Who enters data | What you add |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free | 0 dollars | Up to 2 | Contacts, deals, forms and chat, with HubSpot logo |
| Starter | From 7 dollars, 20 dollars also shown | Per seat | No logo, wider limits, simple automation |
| Professional, Sales Hub | 90 to 100 dollars | Per seat | Follow-up that sends itself, reports per salesperson |
HubSpot shows prices in dollars; which price belongs to annual or monthly billing, its pricing page shows with the toggle. Prices outside the US can differ per region, so check the page for your country before you budget. What a paid edition costs per seat is in HubSpot pricing; cheaper options per use case in HubSpot alternatives.
What five seats cost over three years
Five salespeople over three yearsIn dollars, as HubSpot shows them
- Starter at 7 dollars1,260 dollars
- Starter at 20 dollars3,600 dollars
- Professional at 90 dollarsWith 1,500 dollars onboarding17,700 dollars
Where Starter and Professional differ
Five salespeople cost between 1,260 and 3,600 dollars over three years on Starter, and 17,700 dollars on Professional. You pay that gap for automation: emails that send themselves when a lead does not reply, tasks per stage of your sale, and reports per salesperson. Teams that use that daily earn it back. Teams that mainly want a shared list of clients and deals are fine on Starter.
Another free starting point is Odoo: its CRM app can be used as the single free app, for unlimited users. When that works and when it does not is in is Odoo free. If you use the free plan for marketing, watch two things. Landing pages with the HubSpot logo sit apart from your own site; to be found, build them on your own domain with proper SEO. And tracking visitors with HubSpot's script needs consent first in the EU, as do I need a cookie banner explains.
Before you move from free to paid
- Count who really enters data and who only looks.
- List the automation you miss, and whether Starter has it.
- Ask what happens to your price after the first year.
- Add the Professional onboarding to your first year.
- Check in which format your data comes out if you stop.
Package or custom build
HubSpot fits when your sale follows a standard path: lead, call, quote, deal, with marketing and follow-up in one place. Look further when clients and deals must connect to your own planning, job sheets or invoicing, or when you pay per seat for people who barely open it. Compare a custom CRM, Odoo or custom software, and what custom software development costs. A CRM only works when everyone fills it in after each call; choose the system your salespeople will use, and let follow-up run by itself where it can with AI automation.
Integrations, upgrading and leaving
Can I connect HubSpot to my accounting software?
HubSpot has integrations with many packages through its app marketplace. Whether the one for your accounting or e-invoicing tool works well, test before you sign.
Does my data stay when I move from free to paid?
Yes, a paid plan goes on the same account. Your contacts, deals and forms stay where they are.
What happens to my contacts if I stop?
You can export contacts, companies and deals. Automations and reports you rebuild in another system.
