One app, and the apps it pulls in
Pick only Invoicing in One App Free, for example, and you pay nothing, for as many users as you like, on Odoo's servers. If that app needs other apps to work, you get those free too: eCommerce pulls in Website and Invoicing. Odoo sends e-invoices over Peppol, the network that Belgium requires between businesses since 2026; see is Peppol mandatory in Belgium.
The bill starts with a second app that is not a dependency of the first. Combining invoicing and CRM, or sales and inventory, means paying per user, for all apps. On Odoo's euro price list:

Three years of Odoo for five users
Three years, five users, with setupYearly billing, Odoo Success Pack

- Standard7,282 euro
- Custom13,042 euro
Standard over three years, split
- Setup, 25 hours 3,100 euro
- Licences years 2 and 3 2,988 euro
- Licences year 1 1,194 euro
Setup weighs more than licences
In the example above, setup with 25 hours of help costs more than three years of licences for five people combined. That is no exception: the real cost of Odoo sits in the rollout and in your own people's time. Odoo itself charges between 110 and 147 euro an hour for its Success Packs, depending on the pack; a local partner charges differently. A project that changes your processes soon needs more hours than the pack covers. How long such a rollout takes is in how long does ERP implementation take.
Odoo stays cheap when one app is enough, or when your standard processes fit the apps unchanged. It gets expensive with many users who each need a full licence, with Studio or an API to fit it to your work, or with processes so particular that the rollout takes months. What an ERP does is under ERP; Odoo next to other packages in Odoo alternatives, and next to a custom build in Odoo or custom software. If you mostly work in spreadsheets now, replace Excel with software covers the step that often comes before or after Odoo.
Community, partners and leaving
Isn't Odoo Community free?
The Community edition is open source and free to download, but you host it yourself and miss part of the apps. Hosting, upkeep and updates you then pay in time or to a partner.
What do I ask an Odoo partner before I sign?
How many hours they estimate, what an extra hour costs, and what happens when the project overruns.
Can I take my data with me if I leave Odoo?
Yes, you can export clients, products and invoices. Automations and reports you rebuild in another system.
