Odoo or Teamleader comes down to how much you want to manage in one system. Odoo is a package of many apps, from CRM and invoicing to stock, website and accounting, that you switch on as you grow; Standard costs 19.90 euros per user per month in the first year, then 24.90. Teamleader Focus is a focused workspace for service companies, where customers, quotes, projects and invoices sit in one line; from 25 euros per user per month, with half price from the sixth user. If neither fits how your company works, custom software is the third route.
Both are Belgian: Odoo is a Belgian company, Teamleader was born in Ghent and active in Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany and beyond. Prices below are billed yearly and before VAT, as both list them for Belgium; amounts can differ in your country.
Broad against focused
Odoo is built like a library. You start with one app, such as a CRM or invoicing, and later add stock, purchasing, a store or your accounting. Everything shares the same data: a customer you create in the CRM is ready for the quote, the delivery and the invoice. That breadth is Odoo's strength, and also the work: the more apps you switch on, the more there is to configure. If you want everything in it, you are really looking for an ERP.
Teamleader takes the other side. Teamleader Focus does less, but what it does fits tightly for companies working with quotes, projects and hours: an agency, an installer, a consultancy. Less to configure, and your team finds its way faster. Stock, manufacturing or full accounting are not what it is for.
So the question is not which package is better, but how much of your company you want in one system.

Price and approach side by side
| Odoo | Teamleader Focus | |
|---|---|---|
| Made for | Companies wanting many processes in one package: trade, stock, store, manufacturing | Service companies working with quotes, projects and hours |
| What is in it | A library of apps: CRM, sales, invoicing, accounting, stock, purchasing, projects, website, store, HR | CRM, quotes, projects, planning and invoicing in one workspace |
| Price per user per month | One app free; Standard 19.90 euros in year one, then 24.90; Custom 35.90, then 44.90 | SMART 25, GROW 33, FLOW 45 euros; half price from the sixth user |
| Setup | Often with a partner, charged separately | Often yourself, or with an implementation partner |
| Customising | Studio and custom modules (Custom plan) | Settings and integrations through the API |
| Accounting | Own app, or integration | Integration with your accounting package |
Worked example: 8 and 20 users over three years
Licences only, billed yearly, before VAT. Setup and training come on top for both.
| Over three years | Odoo Standard | Teamleader SMART | Teamleader GROW |
|---|---|---|---|
| 8 users, per month in year 1 | 159.20 euros | 162.50 euros (5 x 25 + 3 x 12.50) | 214.50 euros (5 x 33 + 3 x 16.50) |
| 8 users, three years | 6,691.20 euros | 5,850 euros | 7,722 euros |
| 20 users, per month in year 1 | 398 euros | 312.50 euros (5 x 25 + 15 x 12.50) | 412.50 euros (5 x 33 + 15 x 16.50) |
| 20 users, three years | 16,728 euros | 11,250 euros | 14,850 euros |
The Odoo amounts count year one at 19.90 euros and later years at 24.90. At Teamleader the half price from the sixth user weighs more as you grow. But the price per user tells only half the story: with Odoo you also pay for stock, store and accounting if you use them; with Teamleader you do not have them. Compare what you do with it, not just the licence. All Odoo lines: Odoo pricing.
What neither price includes: the time to set it up, migrate your data and train your team. And count honestly how many people really need to work in it. Both charge per user; a warehouse worker who only ticks off a list costs as much as your account manager.
Choose Odoo when, choose Teamleader when
| Your company | Choose | Why |
|---|---|---|
| A service company with quotes, projects and hours | Teamleader | Faster to adopt, less to configure |
| Trade with stock and purchasing | Odoo | Stock, purchasing and sales share the same data |
| You want a store in the same system | Odoo | Store as an app next to stock and invoicing |
| Accounting must be in the same package | Odoo | Its own accounting app |
| Your accountant works in Exact and wants to keep it | Teamleader or Odoo, integrated | Both connect to your accounting package |
| Your work has rules no package knows | Custom, or a package plus a custom piece | Your process is your edge |

Exact or Odoo: a different question
Comparing "Odoo or Exact" often means comparing two different things. In Belgium and the Netherlands, Exact is mainly accounting software, often used by or through your accountant; Exact Online Trade costs 269 to 699 euros a month in Belgium with one user and accounting included. Odoo is a package in which accounting is one of many apps. If your accountant works in Exact and wants to keep it, choose a package for sales and projects that connects to it, Odoo or Teamleader. If you want everything in one system, accounting included, Odoo is the candidate.
Where each package starts to chafe
Odoo chafes when you customise more than you use. Custom modules work, but every new Odoo version can affect them, and then they must be ported. Teamleader chafes as soon as your work does not fit the line from quote to invoice: a planning with its own rules, stock, a portal for your customers.
Both chafe when your sector has rules no package knows. A transport company tracking fuel under the Belgian Kader B excise scheme, or a payroll office managing work permits and meal vouchers per employee, fits neither without heavy customisation. We built such a platform for DA Logistics; what that takes is on transport software.
One platform for two transport companies, built around their rules.
For DA Logistics we built a platform around their work: a weekly planning board, fuel under Kader B down to the litre and a driver app in three languages for around thirty drivers and 34 vehicles. No package knew those rules, and DA Logistics runs on it every day.
Zuco Logistics runs on the same core with its own fuel model: one platform, two transport companies, three fuel models.

When custom software is the better choice
Choose custom software when your own process is your edge, when customers or staff must work in the system themselves, or when you currently run three packages with a spreadsheet in between. Then you build the system around your work instead of the other way round. It can start small, with one module, and grow in phases; see custom software development cost.
Custom and a package do not exclude each other either. Keep Teamleader or Odoo for what it does well and have only the missing piece built, connected through their API. The wider trade-off is in Odoo or custom software.
How to choose between them
- List what your system must do: CRM, quotes, projects, stock, store, accounting.
- Count how many people really need to work in it, and who only needs to view.
- Try both: Odoo with a free app or trial, Teamleader with a trial.
- Ask each what setup and migration cost, and work out three years with the table above.
- If neither fits, write your work down in our software requirements template and ask for a price for a first custom phase.
Odoo and Teamleader in practice
How much does Teamleader cost?
Teamleader Focus costs 25 euros (SMART), 33 euros (GROW) or 45 euros (FLOW) per user per month billed yearly in Belgium, before VAT, with half price from the sixth user. Your exact price depends on plan, users and country.
How much does Odoo cost?
One app is free. Standard costs 19.90 euros per user per month in year one billed yearly, then 24.90; Custom 35.90, then 44.90. Setup by a partner comes on top.
Is Odoo or Teamleader better for a small company?
For a small service company with quotes and projects, Teamleader is usually quicker to adopt. If you hold stock, run a store or want accounting in the same system, Odoo fits better, and you can start with one free app.
What is the difference between Odoo and Exact?
Exact is mainly accounting software, Odoo a broad package in which accounting is one app. If your accountant works in Exact, connect your sales or project software to it.
Can I connect Odoo or Teamleader to custom software?
Yes, both have an API. You keep the package for what it does well and have only the missing piece built, such as a planning module or a client portal.
Is Teamleader available outside Belgium?
Yes. Teamleader was born in Ghent and serves companies in Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany and beyond. Check language, local invoicing rules and integrations with your country's accounting software before choosing.
