Web design in Roeselare
Opening a business in Roeselare? Make sure it is ready online before the first customer walks in.

Roeselare opens, and the city pays towards it
Web design in Roeselare often goes with another decision: opening a business. Roeselare has 67,697 residents; its inland port on the canal to the Leie is the second largest in the country, and the publisher Roularta has its home there. At the end of 2025, 8,042 companies had their seat in the city, and 805 started in 2025. The shopping streets also call for new businesses: in the Ooststraat and the streets around it, 10.6 percent of the units stood empty in 2025.
The city wants to fill those units and pays towards it, and in 2026 Roeselare is host city of the Weekend van de Klant, Flanders' yearly customer weekend. Whoever opens gets attention. But that attention runs largely through Google: people who hear about your new business look you up and decide on what they find. This page is written for people who open in Roeselare and work in English, from a newcomer with a first shop to a foreign group with a plant by the port. It says what has to be ready online on opening day, in which languages, what it costs and which grants there are.
Eight weeks to opening day
- Eight weeks beforeGrant and premises settledRead the city's rules and apply for the grant before you open; the conditions also shape your planning.
- Six weeks beforeCreate your Google Business ProfileName, address, category, opening date. Verification can take days, so start early.
- Four weeks beforeSite on a test addressWhat you do, your hours, your address, photos of the shop being fitted out, and a way to reach you.
- One week beforePhotos of the finished shopFront, interior and team, for site and profile. A business without photos gets fewer clicks.
- Opening daySite live, profile openThe first customers find you on their phone. Put a QR code for reviews at the till.
- First monthFirst reviews and first changesAsk happy customers for a review and adjust hours or range to what the first weeks teach you.
Roeselare's grants for opening or renewing
| Grant | How much | For whom |
|---|---|---|
| New shop in the centre | 10,000 euros, 5,000 for hospitality | anyone opening a new shop or restaurant in the core |
| Restyling grant | 25 percent of the costs, up to 20,000 euros | anyone renewing an existing shop or restaurant, rules of June 2026 |
The grants pay for starting and fitting out your business, not your website directly. But it is smart to plan them together. Whoever renews a unit takes new photos of front and interior; those belong on your site and in your Google profile too. Read the city's rules before you sign: the zone, the conditions and the moment of applying decide whether you qualify. The rules and the application are in Dutch; the city's economy desk helps if you do not read it.
For the digital side you go to the Flemish government, and there the offer is shrinking: the SME wallet stops on 1 January 2027. What remains is in Flanders digitalisation grants.
What a new business needs online on day one
Four things, in this order:
- A Google Business Profile. It is free and often the first thing people see of your business. Create it weeks ahead, because verification can take days. The steps are in create a Google Business Profile; that it is free, you read in is Google Business Profile free.
- A site with what you do, your hours and your address. Not ten pages, but a page that says in five seconds what your business is and how your customer reaches you. A strong one-pager is often enough for the opening; see web design for freelancers.
- Photos of your business. Of the front, so customers recognise you in the street, and of the inside, so they know what they get.
- A way to ask for reviews. The first reviews are the hardest. With the Google review link generator you make a QR code for the till.
After that the site grows with your business: a page per service or product group, an online shop if you also sell online, vacancies if you are hiring.
Which language on opening day
If you run your business in English, open in Dutch. Roeselare shops in Dutch, and the people who hear about your opening search in Dutch.
| What | Language | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Google Business Profile, hours, posts | Dutch | that is how people in Roeselare search |
| Your one-pager | Dutch first, a short English version beside it | locals first, expats and visitors second |
| Labels and manuals of products you sell | at least Dutch | Belgian consumer law asks for the language of the region |
| Staff contracts and work rules | Dutch | the Flemish language decree |
| Your meetings with us | English or Dutch | your choice |
Every Belgian business site, in any language, shows the company name, address, company number and email (company number on your website).
For those who work in Roeselare, not just shop
Roeselare is more than shopping streets. With 1,123 construction firms, 539 companies in administrative services and 505 industrial companies it is also a city of makers and service providers around the inland port.
| Companies in Roeselare, end of 2025 | Number | What the site has to do |
|---|---|---|
| Professional and technical services | 1,681 | show expertise, a booking |
| Retail and car repair | 1,334 | range, hours, route |
| Construction | 1,123 | projects, a request with photos |
| Other services | 540 | prices and booking, from hairdresser to salon |
| Administrative services | 539 | what you do for whom, a quote form |
| Industry | 505 | products, specifications, vacancies |
For a contractor the site is a portfolio with a request form; see website for contractors. For an industrial company it is a catalogue and a careers page, and for one that sells abroad, English and French product pages; our page on marketing in Roeselare goes into that. Those differ more than the city they are in.
A one-pager that brings in requests
For Park & Wash, a home car-detailing service in Ghent that started as a school assignment, we built a one-pager with nine sections and two routes: private customers ask their price through WhatsApp, companies with a fleet fill in a fleet form. A small business, a small site, but every section leads to a request.
Park & Wash is in Ghent, not Roeselare. But a new shop in the Ooststraat needs exactly that on opening day: saying what you do, showing what it looks like, and letting the customer ask what they want in one click. How such a page is built is on landing page design and in the case Park & Wash.
Costs for a business that opens
For an opening a single page is often enough: on the market you pay 500 to 1,500 euros for it. As the business grows, a page per service or product group comes on top, which usually costs 2,000 to 6,000 euros in Belgium; if you also sell online, an online shop sits at 4,000 to 15,000 euros or more. Each year you pay 50 to 300 euros on top for domain and hosting; see website cost per year.
Our entry price for custom work is 1,500 euros, and the price for the project is fixed after a first conversation. Give us your opening date, and we plan back from it. If you want to do the sum yourself, open the website cost calculator.
After the opening: the first three months
An opening draws visitors, but what they find online decides whether they come back. In the first month, look in your Google profile at which searches find you and how many people ask for the route. Ask for a review after every good sale, until you have twenty. And add to your site what customers asked in the first weeks: a price that was missing, a service you did not mention, a parking tip. That way a one-pager grows into a site that sells by itself, without starting over.
For a company by the inland port
Not every Roeselare site is about a shop. A company by the inland port or on an industrial estate sells to buyers and looks for technicians. There a page per service or product counts, references with a year and a quote form that goes to the right person. If you are hiring, put your vacancies on your own site, with what the work involves and where it is.
A short checklist for the day itself
Does your phone number work as a link on the site, is your address right in Google Maps, and does your site open fast on a phone? Then you are ready.
Mistakes at an opening
- The site only after the openingThe first weeks are the busiest; people who cannot find you then will not find you later either.
- No opening date in GoogleA profile with 'opening soon' and a date already draws searchers before the opening.
- Photos of the renovation as the only pictureReplace them as soon as the business is finished.
- A domain in the web builder's namePut it in your own name; read choosing a domain name.

We do the first meeting at your place, in your new business, even while it is still under scaffolding, in English or Dutch. We have no client in Roeselare; what we show is work that runs the same way, like the one-pager of Park & Wash and more than 1,700 pages live for our clients.
