Web design in Lokeren and along the E17

337 ha
Sites for businesses in Lokeren and Moerbeke, and software for the companies along the motorway.
Lokeren has two kinds of client for a web agency
Web design in Lokeren first asks which business you are. The shops, practices and contractors from the town, Daknam, Eksaarde and since 2025 Moerbeke want to be found by their neighbours. The companies on the six business parks along the E17, from Den Oever to Everslaar, look for clients, suppliers and drivers from all over the country, and many of them belong to international groups or work in English with their customers abroad.
Lokeren is also a town that starts things: according to the town, more than 400 new companies start there every year. For them Lokeren has a free starter pack, and for everyone an address that may no longer be right after the merger. Both touch your site. This page is written for business owners and managers who work in English, from a logistics firm with a foreign parent to an expat opening a shop on the Markt.

After the merger with Moerbeke: is your address still right?
On 1 January 2025 Lokeren and Moerbeke became one municipality. The FPS Economy then linked all addresses in the Crossroads Bank for Enterprises (KBO, the Belgian company register) to the new town. Many addresses moved over by themselves, not all: whoever received a letter has to correct their address themselves. Whoever got no letter need not do anything in the KBO.
Your site must show the same address as the KBO, your Google Business Profile and your invoices. Three versions of one address confuse clients and Google, and your Google Business Profile drops on the map because of it. Check this:
| Where your address appears | What to check |
|---|---|
| KBO | whether the FPS asked you for a correction, and whether it was made |
| Footer of your site | address, company number and VAT number as in the KBO |
| Google Business Profile | the same address and place name as on your site |
| Contact page and map | the route to your business or site, with the right exit |
What must legally sit at the bottom of your site, in every language, is in company number on your website.

| Industry | 320 | products, certificates, vacancies |
| Agriculture | 272 | what you sell, when, where |
Almost one in five of the 5,198 VAT-registered companies in Lokeren is in construction, more than in any other sector.
- Choose a site for neighbours ifyour clients come from Lokeren, Daknam, Eksaarde or Moerbeke: a clear page per service, your hours, reviews and a button to call. A contractor follows the pattern of a website for contractors, an accountant that of a website for accountants, a freelancer with one service that of web design for freelancers.
- Choose a site for buyers and candidates ifyou are on a business park and your clients are all over Belgium or beyond: what you make or carry, for whom, proof, and a vacancy page per job that can be filled in on a phone in a minute.
- Choose software instead of a bigger site ifyour planning, your fleet or your fuel still sits in Excel. A site brings in clients, a platform saves hours at the office.
Which language, by the motorway and in town
| Who | Language | What to build |
|---|---|---|
| Neighbours in Lokeren and Moerbeke | Dutch | Dutch pages per service, with the village names |
| Clients and buyers across Europe | English, sometimes French or German | an English page per service or product |
| Drivers and warehouse staff you recruit | Dutch, plus the languages your staff speak | a vacancy page that works on a phone |
| Head office abroad | English | the reports and dashboards of your software |
One rule from Flanders to keep in mind: documents meant for your staff, such as contracts and work rules, are in Dutch under the Flemish language decree, with a translation beside it where your team needs one. Your site and your software screens can be in as many languages as your people use.
Logistics on the E17
The parks along the E17 hold many hauliers and distributors. For them the site is often the smaller problem: planning drivers, trailers and routes takes more time than finding clients. For a transport company we built a platform with a weekly planning board, a fleet file per vehicle and an app for about thirty drivers in Dutch, English and Turkish; a second transport company went live on the same platform in 57 minutes. What such a system costs and how it runs is on transport software and transport management software.
Short supply chain in Lokeren and Moerbeke
The merger brought even more farms and market gardens into Lokeren. The town bundles 27 of them in the short-chain brochure (H)eerlijk Lokaal, together with the regional landscape Schelde-Durme: from dairy and meat to flowers, trees, vegetables and fruit. A brochure lies on the table, a site sits in your customer's pocket. For a farm with sales at the door a fast page with what is for sale now, the opening hours of the shop or the vending machine and the way there is enough. Keep those hours the same as your profile on Google, because that is where the customer looks first. If you want to reach more people nearby, local SEO helps more than an ad.
Free for starters in Lokeren
The town gives anyone starting in Lokeren, or active for less than three years, a free digital starter pack: more than a hundred documents, templates and guides, with e-books on online marketing, Facebook and Instagram ads and SEO, and an explanation of the GDPR; what of that has to be on your site is in do I need a privacy policy. The pack is in Dutch. You request it from the town if your seat or branch is in Lokeren, or if you live there and still have to start.
Questions about permits, grants and the gift voucher go to the Economy department in the town hall, Groentemarkt 1, 9160 Lokeren: 09 235 31 00 or economie@lokeren.be. For setting up the company itself you go to a recognised business desk; the steps are also in VLAIO's starter guide, the Flemish agency for innovation and entrepreneurship.
What we often fix on sites in Lokeren
- Moerbeke in one place, Lokeren in anotherAfter the merger your municipality is called Lokeren, but your clients still type Moerbeke or Eksaarde. Show the official address and name the village in your copy where it means something.
- A business park without directionsA driver or supplier wants to know which exit, which gate and where to load. Put it on the contact page, not in an email.
- Vacancies only on a job siteA candidate who looks up your company lands on your site. If the vacancy is not there, they are gone.
- No mention of the gift voucherPeople who received a Lokeren gift voucher look for where to spend it. Put it with your payment options, on the site and at the till.
- A new site that wipes out the old oneEvery page Google knew from your old site must point to its new address; how that works is in moving a website to a new host.
The planning board of a transport company
Routes per client, drivers you drag onto a route, tractor unit and trailer that follow: that is how a transport company plans its week on the platform we built. Temporary routes and night runs are on it, as is who is on leave which week.
For a company on the E17 with ten or thirty drivers, that is often worth more than a bigger site. The site says who you are, the planning board saves hours at the office every day.

Questions from Lokeren and Moerbeke
- Should my site say Lokeren or Moerbeke?
- Your address follows the new municipality, as in the KBO. Daknam, Eksaarde or Moerbeke you name where you did work or have clients.
- Do you work for hauliers outside Lokeren too?
- Yes. The transport platform we built runs for two transport companies, each with its own profile, its own server and its own fuel model. Where you are makes little difference to the software.
- Can the platform run in English for our head office?
- Yes. Each user picks a language and the screens follow; the planners can work in Dutch while the head office reads the same data in English.
- Do you build vacancy pages for drivers?
- Yes. A page per job, with what the job involves, the hours and a short form that can be filled in on a phone in a minute.
- Can I use the town's starter pack next to your work?
- Certainly. The pack gives you documents and explanations; we build the site you set up with them. One does not replace the other.
Website design
What VBS builds in Lokeren
We come to your business or your site, half an hour over the E17 from the Sint-Baafsplein in Ghent, and work in English or Dutch. You get a fixed price per part and a custom website that gets your address, your villages and your vacancies right. For SN Group we wrote a page for Lokeren with what people there ask most; for a transport company we built the platform it plans on every day. You see your price up front, and a first estimate you make yourself in the website cost calculator. Plan a meeting.
