Web design in Sint-Niklaas

A site for your practice or shop in the Waasland, half an hour from our office.
The capital of the Waasland
Web design in Sint-Niklaas, or 'sint niklaas' as almost everyone types it into Google, starts with two kinds of business.
Sint-Niklaas has 83,400 residents and is the centre of the Waasland, with the largest market square in the country at its heart. At the end of 2025, 7,277 companies had their seat in the city. Two groups stand out: 1,426 in the professions and technical services, from accountants and lawyers to architects and physiotherapists, and 1,214 in retail. A practice and a shop need very different sites. This page is written for people who run one of them in English: an expat who opened a practice, a foreign brand with a shop near the Grote Markt, a professional who advises international clients. Below you read which site fits, which languages to offer, what the city gives starters and businesses that move, what a site costs and how we approach it from Ghent.
Searching for 'sint niklaas', with or without a hyphen
The official name is Sint-Niklaas, with a hyphen. People searching leave it out. In Dutch, 'website laten maken sint niklaas' ranks seventh when you type 'website laten maken s'; 'webdesign sint niklaas' and 'webdesigner sint niklaas' come back literally too. In English, Google suggests 'web design sint niklaas' and 'web development sint niklaas'. With the hyphen Google hardly finds those combinations. For your own site that means: use the official name in your address and your copy, and know that Google reads both forms as the same place. You do not need to force the form without a hyphen into your titles; just write for your customer.
People who live in Belsele, Nieuwkerken or Sinaai often search with the name of their village. Mention those villages with a job you did there, and they mean something.

A site for a practice or office
An accountant, lawyer, physiotherapist or dentist sells trust and time. Your client wants to know whether you can help them, and when. The site turns on three things.
- A page per service or treatmentSomeone typing 'boekhouder sint niklaas starter' (accountant for a starter) looks for something else than someone typing 'boekhouder vennootschap' (accountant for a company). So you write a separate page for each of those questions.
- Online bookingA practice you can only call during office hours loses the client who searches in the evening.
- What your profession allowsHealth professions, lawyers and accountants have rules for advertising and mandatory details on their site. Read on website for accountants, website for law firms and website for therapists what is allowed.
For an accounting firm in Ghent we built a site in four languages, English among them, with eleven sector pages and a client portal where clients book an appointment themselves. Such a structure fits a practice in Sint-Niklaas too.
Clients who prefer English
The Waasland lies between Ghent and Antwerp, and many people who work at the port or in the two cities live in Sint-Niklaas and its villages. A practice or office that advises them in English wins clients the Dutch-only competition misses.
| What | Language | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Your main pages | Dutch | most clients in the Waasland search in Dutch |
| Pages for the services expats ask for | English | only where you can also answer in English |
| Booking and confirmation email | the language of the page | a client who booked in English gets an English confirmation |
| Mandatory details | every language | company number, title, registration, privacy policy |
Each language is its own version with its own titles; how that works on one domain is on multilingual website development. What every Belgian site must show is in company number on your website.
A site for a shop in the centre
A shop around the Grote Markt or in the Stationsstraat sells to people walking by, but that customer looks at their phone first. They want to know whether you are open, what you sell and where to park.
- Hours that are rightAlso on holidays, during the Vredefeesten and on market day. Put them in your Google Business Profile and on your site.
- Your range with photos and pricesA shop window on the web. Someone in doubt between you and an online shop picks whoever shows what is on the shelves.
- Reserving or buying online,if your customers also decide outside opening hours. When an online shop pays off is in is an online store worth it.
A happy customer rarely writes a review unprompted; with the Google review link generator you put a QR code at the till.
Prices for a Waasland site
| Waasland business | Range you pay in Belgium | What is in it |
|---|---|---|
| Starter or small shop | 500 to 1,500 euros | one page, hours, contact |
| Practice, office or contractor | 2,000 to 6,000 euros | a page per service, booking or request |
| Shop that sells at a distance | 4,000 to 15,000 euros or more | products, checkout, shipping |
Domain, hosting and updates come on top each year. A booking module or a second language moves you up. We start at 1,500 euros for custom work and put a fixed price on paper after the first meeting; the website cost calculator lets you combine options yourself first. If proposals are already on the table, use compare website quotes, and if you are in doubt between a freelancer from the Waasland and an agency, read freelancer or agency.
A site for market day and the Vredefeesten
On market day and during the Vredefeesten the Grote Markt fills up, and many businesses keep other hours then. Put those hours in your profile and on your site in time, with a short line on what you offer those days.
Mistakes on Waasland sites
- A site without the villagesA contractor who worked in Belsele shows that with the project.
- No price indicationA customer in doubt calls the business that does show a range.
- A slow siteTest it with the website speed test.
- Invisible in Google without knowing whyStart with the website not showing on Google check.
Half an hour from our office
Sint-Niklaas is 38 kilometres from the Sint-Baafsplein, 35 minutes by car, and the direct train takes about half an hour. We come to your practice or shop for the first meeting and for the photos, and work with you in English or Dutch.
The picture at the top is the English contact page of business-centrum.be: for that Ghent payroll office we wrote a page per East Flemish town, one about the employers in Sint-Niklaas included, and English versions beside them, and that helped their site appear 46 times as often in Google. We do not have a client in Sint-Niklaas itself yet, and we say so. How we approach a site and local findability is at website design and local SEO. If you also work in Lokeren or the rest of the province, read web design in Lokeren or web design in East Flanders.
