Wix pricing in euro: what a Wix site costs

Wix pricing in euro: a paid Wix plan costs 14 to 149 euro a month before VAT when you pay a year up front. Wix sets prices by region, so the dollar prices you see in American reviews are not what you pay in the eurozone. For a plain business site Light at 14 euro is usually enough; to take payments or sell, you start at Core for 25 euro. On top come your domain from year two, email addresses and any apps.

What you pay on top of the plan

Your domain after the first year

Every paid plan comes with a domain free for one year, through a voucher you use within 60 days and only for a new domain. From year two you pay the renewal. You can also connect a domain you already own at your own registrar.

Email on your own domain

An email address on your domain is not part of the plan; Wix sells Google Workspace on top. At Google itself, Business Starter costs 6.80 euro per user a month on a yearly plan, before tax. Three addresses for your team come to 244.80 euro a year, more than the Light plan.

Apps from the App Market

Bookings, extra forms or translations come as apps. Many are free, others have their own monthly price on top of your plan. The higher plans include some apps free for a year, such as Site Booster and Events Calendar.

Payment fees when you sell

With Wix Payments a card payment costs 1.9% plus 0.30 euro, iDEAL 2.5% plus 0.30 euro and Bancontact 1.4% plus 0.30 euro. How that adds up for a small store, and how it compares with Shopify, is in Wix vs Shopify.

Is Wix free?

You can build without paying, but your site then shows a Wix banner at the top, lives on a wixsite.com address and has 500 MB of storage. Connecting your own domain takes a paid plan. For a business the free plan is a way to try Wix, not a way to run a site; every limit is in is Wix free.

What Wix costs over three years

A business site on Wix Light costs 168 euro a year before VAT. Our own worked example for the same small site with one email address, before VAT, without domain and apps:

A static site can run on the free plan of AWS CloudFront as long as it stays under 1 million requests and 100 GB a month. With the same email address, three years come to at least 1,744.80 euro, plus any changes you order and hosting once traffic outgrows that free plan.

On cost alone Wix Light is cheaper over three years, and a custom site only catches up after about nine years. Against Core at 25 euro, because you want to take payments, it catches up after about five. What you cannot take with you on Wix is the site itself: Wix does not let a site move to another host, so moving later means rebuilding. The choice therefore depends less on the monthly price than on what the site has to do. A few pages with your services and contact details: Wix does the job. A site that has to win customers from search in several countries and languages, with a page per service, market or question: build something you own.

Pitfalls that raise your Wix bill

Wix in several languages

For a business selling across Europe a second language is normal. Wix has a multilingual feature, but each language is text to write and maintain, and automatic translation rarely reads the way your customers search. When Wix is the right choice
