The plans per month
On the free plan a Wix banner sits on top of every page, your address is yourname.wixsite.com and you get 500 MB of storage. Whoever wants to convince customers does not want someone else's advert on top, and wants an address that fits on an invoice or a van. That starts at Light. Wix and Google
Does a Wix site rank well on Google?
A Wix site can rank. A page per service, copy with the words your customers type and a fast site weigh more than the platform. For a large site in several languages, custom work gives more control over URLs, language versions and speed.
Can I connect my own domain on the free plan?
No. On the free plan you stay on a wixsite.com address, even if you already own a domain elsewhere. Connecting one starts at Light.
What sits outside the plan
The plan is only part of the bill. A mailbox on your own domain is not included; budget a mail plan such as Google Workspace; what such a site costs in total per year is in website cost per year. The domain is free for a year with the voucher, after which you pay Wix's renewal price, or you register it yourself at a registrar from the start; how to pick a good name is in choose a domain name. Apps from the Wix App Market often carry their own monthly price, and selling means fees per transaction. A business in the EU with a valid VAT number pays no VAT to Wix and reverse-charges it.

When Wix is enough, and when it is not
Wix fits when you want to build and update a simple site yourself: a few pages, a contact form, a new photo now and then. It pinches when the site has to link to your own software, get found in several languages, or move later. A Wix site cannot move to another host: you take your texts, images and up to 5,000 products as CSV, and the site itself is rebuilt. Torn between site builders?
