Watch, tap, buy, without leaving the app

TikTok Shop Belgium went live on 15 June 2026, together with the Netherlands, Austria and Poland. TikTok announced it on 28 May, and sellers could register from 1 June. A viewer who sees your product in a video or a livestream taps the product card and pays inside the app. Your own online store is not involved.

According to TikTok, more than 4.3 million people use the app in Belgium and 7.5 million in the Netherlands. For a brand selling products people need to see to want, that is a new sales channel with a large audience. For a service business or a product that needs a quote, much less so.

Which products it suits

TikTok Shop works best for products that convince in a short video: clothing, cosmetics, food, homeware, gadgets. A product that shows in fifteen seconds what it is and why you want it sells there. A service, a made-to-order product or a renovation does not sell in the app; a construction firm or a law practice gets more from TikTok as a channel for awareness than as a shop.

What your own store costs, and what it does that TikTok does not, is in ecommerce website cost. What you may claim about your products in a video is governed by the same law as on your site.

One registration, nine countries

TikTok Shop already ran in France, Germany, Ireland, Italy and Spain. On 15 June Belgium, the Netherlands, Austria and Poland joined. With Sell Across Europe, which TikTok said would follow shortly after launch, a seller registered in one market can sell in the others. TikTok translates and localises product descriptions; you ship abroad yourself or through TikTok Shop's logistics partners.

Then there is the creator network. Approved creators can promote products from sellers in other countries in their own market and earn a commission. A Dutch skincare brand can sell in France through a French creator without making French content itself. Ireland shows how a young market develops: TikTok Shop launched there in December 2024, and a year later TikTok reported that the number of Irish sellers had grown by more than 100 percent and that Black Friday sales rose by 190 percent. Those are TikTok's own figures, but they show the pace the platform expects.

Selling into Belgium means two languages. A video in Dutch does not reach French-speaking Belgians, and the reverse. How to build a site that serves both is covered in a website in French and Dutch.

What sellers ask about TikTok Shop

Who can sell on TikTok Shop in Belgium?

Businesses that register through TikTok's Seller Center and complete verification. You see the conditions and the commission per category there when you sign up.

How much does TikTok keep per sale?

TikTok charges a commission per sale that differs by product category and is listed in the Seller Center. Add it to shipping and returns in your margin before you set a price.

Do I still need my own online store?

Yes. TikTok Shop is a channel, not a foundation. Your own store is where customers come back, where Google finds you and where you set the rules.

Who handles a return when a customer changes their mind?

The process runs through TikTok Shop, but you are the seller. The EU right of withdrawal applies in full, including to items sold in a livestream.

EU consumer rules apply inside the app

Anyone selling to consumers follows EU rules, on a platform too. Since 19 June 2026 every online sale to consumers must offer a clear function to withdraw from the contract; what that means for your own store is in the EU withdrawal button. Since 27 September 2026 generic environmental claims such as "eco" or "sustainable" without proof are banned, and a claim in a TikTok video falls under that just as much as one on your packaging, see the EU ban on generic green claims.

On top of that come TikTok Shop's own rules: every product must meet the shop's policies and community guidelines, and customers can leave reviews and report problems. A poor score costs you visibility in the Shop tab.

A channel you do not own

Your sales, customer data and visibility depend on a platform's rules. Use TikTok Shop to reach new customers, and give them a reason to buy from your own store as well.

What a video that sells in the app has

A video that sells on TikTok does not look like a commercial. It shows the product in use in the first second, by someone who talks about it the way a customer would. It answers the viewer's question: how big, how does it feel, what does it cost. And it ends at the product card. That takes your own footage, not stock clips, and a rhythm of several videos a week. One shoot day yields material for weeks; what that costs is in corporate video cost. Plan it with a content calendar template.

Start with three to five products that already sell well, a fixed run of videos each week and a clear delivery promise. Build commission, shipping and returns into your price with the margin calculator, and after a month compare what TikTok Shop brought in with your Meta ads; what those cost is in Facebook ads cost. Your own store stays the foundation: how to make it rank on Google is in ecommerce SEO.

Social media management

How VBS makes video that sells

We run social media management with our own footage: shooting, editing and scheduling. For Les Terrasses de Durbuy, a holiday villa in the Ardennes, we made the launch reel and the golf reel with a videographer, plus carousels; the golf reel ran as three ads from 13 December 2025 to 24 January 2026. Your own store, the foundation next to TikTok, we build through webshop development. Want to test TikTok Shop with videos that sell? Book a call.
