Cleaning companies
Cleaning company website design that turns enquiries into site visits
An office manager asks for a price on 600 square metres, three evenings a week, and you get the building type, floor area and frequency you need to book a walk-round.

Commercial contracts are won before the walk-round
A business looking for a new contractor rarely asks one firm. The facilities lead or the owner asks three, compares the quotes and picks one. The firm that books a site visit first and returns a price that fits the building has the edge. A contact page with a single message box does not give you enough to do that.
Households search differently. Someone after a weekly domestic clean looks at the area you cover, whether you have a slot and what your reviews say. A good cleaning company site serves both, with a separate route for each.
This page covers what that site needs, the rules clients will ask about, what it costs and how we start. For the scheduling and shift tools behind the site, see our page on software for cleaning companies.

New enquiry
320 m² office, twice a week after 6pm, key in a lockbox
Peter, Cheadle, yesterday 16:52
- A page per type of work: offices, surgeries, builders cleans
- Reviews from contract clients on your Google profile
- A form that asks for floor area, frequency and access
Firm names, ratings and the enquiry were invented for this example.
Quote form by building and floor area
A cleaning price depends on the building, its size, how often and what needs doing. A form that asks those questions hands you a request you can act on the same day.
| Question | Why it is there | What you do with it |
|---|---|---|
| Type of premises | Office, surgery, shop, school, block of flats or home | Pick the team and the kit |
| Floor area in square metres or square feet | The basis of your price | A first estimate before you visit |
| Frequency | Daily, three times a week, weekly or one-off | Hours per month in your rota |
| Times | Before opening, after closing or during office hours | Whether it fits a team already nearby |
| Extras | Windows, washrooms, kitchens, floors, after builders | A quote with nothing forgotten |
| Photos | A view of the space | Fewer surprises at the walk-round |
Six questions look like a lot, but a business after a year-long contract will answer them when it sees each one matters. For one-off jobs such as an end of tenancy clean the form can be shorter. If you want clients to book the walk-round straight into your diary, the site connects to a booking system.
Domestic and commercial on one site
Two audiences, two routes. A business wants a quote, a named contact and proof the clean goes ahead when someone is off sick. A household wants to know whether you cover their street, whether there is a slot and what a regular clean costs. Put both routes at the top of the home page, so nobody has to read pages written for the other group.
For households a short waiting list form works better than a phone number: name, postcode, hours wanted per week and from when. You then see per area where demand sits and where another domestic cleaner would fill a week. For commercial clients, a page per sector you serve, such as offices, dental practices or schools, says more than a list of services. How to set up the business itself is in start a cleaning business in the UK.
Cover and compliance clients ask about
Commercial clients and their procurement teams ask the same questions before they sign. Answering them on the site saves a round of email and shows you run a proper firm.
| Rule | What it asks | What to show on the site |
|---|---|---|
| Employers' liability insurance | Compulsory once you employ staff, cover of at least £5 million | State that you hold it; procurement forms ask for it |
| TUPE on a change of contractor | Cleaners moving with a contract are likely protected; employee liability information goes over at least 4 weeks before the transfer | Explain how you take over a team from the previous contractor |
| Waste carrier registration | Lower tier for your own waste, upper tier £191.02 for three years if you carry other people's waste | Say how you handle waste from clearances and after-builders cleans |
| Work at Height Regulations 2005 | Avoid work at height where you can, prevent falls, keep ladder work to short tasks | Show the kit you use for high windows and atriums |
| COSHH | Assess and control the cleaning chemicals your team uses | Mention that your products come with safety data and training |
| Consumer Rights Act 2015, s.49 | A service for a consumer is carried out with reasonable care and skill | Clear terms for domestic clients, with what happens if a clean falls short |
The company details that belong on every page are in company number on your website. A quote form collects names and addresses, so read a GDPR-compliant website, whether you need a privacy policy and, if you set analytics cookies, UK cookie law.
Brochure site or quoting site
Most cleaning firms already have a site. The question is what it does once a visitor arrives.
- First screen
- Brochure siteA photo of a mop and a slogan
- Quoting siteTwo buttons: a quote for a business, a slot for a home
- Contact
- Brochure siteOne message box
- Quoting siteA form by premises type, floor area and frequency
- Areas
- Brochure siteOne line listing towns
- Quoting siteA page per town with the clients you serve there
- Trust
- Brochure siteA paragraph about quality
- Quoting siteReviews, insurance and how you cover absence
- Hiring
- Brochure siteNo careers page
- Quoting siteVacancies by shift and area, applied for from a phone
A quoting site turns a visitor into a walk-round. A brochure site leaves that step to a phone call that often never happens.
A cleaner applies for an evening shift
These applicants are fictional. Which questions the form asks is up to you.
Evening teams through a careers page
Most cleaning firms are held back by staff, not by clients. A careers page on your own site, listing the hours, the areas and the type of premises, draws people who fit your teams. An evening office team needs a different profile from a daytime domestic cleaner.
State the pay clearly. The National Living Wage is £12.71 an hour from 1 April 2026, and travel time between clients counts as working time, so a rota with several homes a day has to pay for the drive between them. Keep the application short: name, mobile, postcode, hours that suit and whether they drive. Many applicants apply from a phone, so no CV as a required field. How a careers page helps people stay is covered under employer branding, and a separate landing page per vacancy can carry an ad campaign.
Local pages per town and your business profile
An office manager in Leeds searches for a cleaning company in Leeds, not in West Yorkshire. A page for each town or district your teams work in, with the kind of clients you have there and how quickly you can start, puts you in those results. Do not copy the same text with a new place name: Google notices, and so do visitors.
Your Google Business Profile matters as much as the site. If you work from home, a profile with a service area works without a visible address. Ask for a review after the first month of each contract; how to do that well is in getting more Google reviews, and the review link generator gives you the link. Practical steps for ranking in your area are in local SEO tips, and the service itself is on local SEO. A site that loads slowly on a phone loses visitors before they reach the form; check yours with the website speed test.
Scheduling tools behind the form
A site that brings in quotes starts work behind the scenes: a walk-round, a quote, a team that starts on Monday. The size of your firm decides what sits behind the site.
| Size | Website | Behind it |
|---|---|---|
| Sole trader with a few regular clients | A page per service and a short quote form | Your diary and your email |
| Team of five to ten cleaners | Form by premises, town pages, careers page | A shared rota per team |
| Twenty to fifty staff | Separate routes for business and home, waiting list | Staff scheduling software and a time tracking app |
| Larger, across several regions | A site per region or client type | A link with your rota and your payroll |
What goes into that scheduling is on the cleaning companies page. If you also clean windows and fronts, see window cleaners; in some Scottish councils a window cleaner needs a licence, which belongs on the site too.
Contract value, worked out
Those amounts are assumptions. Your own figures come from your average contract value and from how many enquiries you miss today. A first estimate for the build comes from the website cost calculator, and the wider ranges are in website cost in the UK.
Launching a cleaning site
- Talk firstYou tell us which clients you serve, which towns you cover and how enquiries come in today. We look at your current site and your Google profile together.
- One fixed priceYou get a proposal that says what is in and what is not, with a fixed price for the whole project.
- Form and pagesWe build the quote form, the town pages and the careers page. You supply photos of your work and your services.
- LaunchThe site goes live with your business profile linked, and you see which pages bring in quote requests.
Price of a cleaning site
A website with VBS starts from 1,500 euro. A site with a quote form by premises, town pages and a careers page takes more work than a single page; what it comes to for your firm you hear after the first conversation, as a fixed price per project. How we work is on website design, and how long a build usually takes is in how long a website takes. For busy seasons, such as spring cleans or student move-outs, ads can sit on top: see Google Ads.
For Park & Wash we built a site with two routes: households book through WhatsApp and businesses with a fleet use their own form.
