Industry: tilers
Tiler website that fills the diary, with software for the job
A site that shows your wet rooms and floors, enquiries that arrive with sizes and photos, and a phone that knows which batch is on which job.

A tiler website that works while you are on your knees
A tiler website has to do what you cannot do with adhesive on your hands: win the customer, ask the right questions and line up the job. At ten in the morning you are setting a 1200 by 600 porcelain tile on a floor in West Bridgford, and the phone that rings is either a missed job or a smear on the face of a tile.
This page shows what we build for tilers and tiling firms, from a sole trader in Beeston to a firm with several teams across Nottingham. A site that gets found, a job sheet on the phone, stock per job, a job advert that works and AI that prepares a quote. Working on full refurbishments with other trades? See renovation. How we build websites in general is on website design.
Three jobs on one screen
- The tile batch stays with the jobIf a tile cracks a year later, you know which batch it was and how many spare boxes the customer kept.
- Drying time sits in the diaryA screed or adhesive bed that has to cure moves the next visit on its own. Nobody drives out for nothing.
- Extras are signed forSkirting, an extra niche in the shower, tanking that was not in the quote: agreed before you leave.
An example with made-up bathrooms and addresses; you choose what a tiling job sheet asks for.
Where a tiler's week goes
A tiler sells square metres that have to look right. Yet a large part of the week goes to work that lays no tile.
- Calls mid-jobA price request, a supplier and a customer, all while the adhesive bed starts to skin over.
- A screed that is not readyThe moisture reading says wait. The diary moves, and you spend a morning finding a job that can go ahead.
- A second batchThe top-up delivery has a different batch number from the first. Either a shade difference on the wall or a week of waiting.
- Quotes at nightFloor and wall areas, cutting waste, strip-out, tanking, adhesive, grout, trims. An hour or more per quote, after a day on your knees.
- Extras agreed by word of mouthAn extra niche in the shower, a change of layout. Fine on the day, a dispute when the invoice lands.
A wet room enquiry from West Bridgford
New enquiry
Wet room 2.4 by 3 m, tiles chosen, 5 photos attached
Laura, West Bridgford, today 21:03
- One page per job type: bathrooms, wet rooms, floors
- A Google profile with photos of your own bathrooms
- A form that asks for m2, tile size and photos
An example with made-up tiling firms and reviews.
Tiling website pages that match what people search
People looking for a tiler search close to home, look at the map and read the reviews. A tiling website that wins there is built around the work, not around a single home page.
- A page per kind of workBathrooms, wet rooms, large format floors, kitchen splashbacks, outdoor porcelain. Each with photos of real jobs and a few lines on how you do it: tanking, falls to the drain, joint width, levelling systems.
- The places you work, by nameNottingham, Beeston, West Bridgford, Arnold, Long Eaton: name them, with a job you did there. See local SEO and our local SEO tips.
- A Google Business Profile that is kept upPhotos of every finished bathroom and a review after each job. See create a Google Business Profile and get more Google reviews.
The enquiry form does the rest. It asks for room sizes, whether old tiles have to come off, whether the customer has chosen tiles yet, and photos of the room as it is. With that, you know whether a survey is worth the drive. Comparing offers from web designers? Read compare website quotes and is a website worth it.
A first quote per m2, checked by the tiler
An example: the AI works from your own prices per m2 and per tile size, you decide.
AI that does the sums, a tiler who decides
A tiling quote is the same sums every time: floor and wall areas, cutting waste, stripping out, levelling, tanking in the shower, adhesive, grout, silicone and trims. AI can prepare those sums from the enquiry, the photos and the survey.
- The customer sends sizes and photos through the site, or you survey with the phone.
- AI sets out the items: m2 of floor, m2 of wall, a line for the wet room tanking, strip-out where the photos show old tiles.
- You check. A wall out of plumb, a boxed-in pipe or a floor that is not flat, you see better than any model. You adjust and send.
- The customer accepts online. Extras on site become their own line with a signature.
Nothing goes out unchecked. AI can also read supplier emails and put a delivery date on the job, or sort enquiries by area and type of work. More on AI quote generator and AI for construction.
Adhesive, grout and tiles by place
S1 adhesive running low
9 bags in the unit, 30 needed for the four jobs this week. Proposal: one pallet from the merchant.
An example with made-up quantities. You choose per item when the system warns you.
Batch numbers, spares and the van
Tiles of the same range do not always come in the same shade. Lay a floor from two batches and you see it only when it is too late. So the software keeps the batch per job, and warns you when a top-up delivery carries a different number.
- Spares per jobAfter each job a few boxes are left. They belong to the customer, for a later repair. The software notes them on the job file, so nobody looks for them in the unit.
- The van as a placeAdhesive, grout, silicone, trims and spacers mostly live in the van. A scan when you unload books them to the job; an alert proposes an order before the adhesive runs out.
- Deliveries in the diaryA tile delivery that comes late moves the fit. You see which job moves with it and which customer gets a message.
More in inventory management software. The job sheet itself is on the work order app, and jobs planned around screed drying times on construction scheduling software.
Finding a tiler on your own site
An example with made-up names; you choose what the form asks a tiler, from large format to wet rooms.
Hiring tilers who show their work
A good tiler is not on a job board with a CV ready. He is on site with a phone in his pocket. A job page on your own site asks three things: name and phone number, bathrooms, floors or both, and a photo of a bathroom he tiled. That photo says more than a CV: straight joints, falls that work, clean cuts around a window.
You see who applied, book a chat or invite them for a trial day. Labourers keen to learn get their own place on the page, because that is where many tilers start.
For planning people across jobs, see staff scheduling software and the time tracking app.
What each size of tiling firm needs
A sole trader tiler does not need an ERP. A firm of thirty with a showroom needs more than a website. This is where we start.
| Size | What hurts most | Where we start |
|---|---|---|
| Sole trader | Calls while tiling, quotes at night | A website with a strong enquiry form and a Google Business Profile; a simple job sheet on the phone if it helps |
| A team of five | Two or three jobs at once, which tiles are where | Job sheet and diary on the phone, stock per job and van, quote from the survey |
| A firm of 20 to 50 | A showroom, sales staff, teams and sub-contractors | One job file from showroom to sign-off, CIS records, job adverts on the site |
| A larger firm | Systems running side by side | Links to the accounts package or ERP already there, and a client portal for main contractors and homeowners |

Rules and dates for tilers in 2026
Software that knows the rules puts the right figures on the invoice and keeps what you need to show. These come up most for tilers in England.
| Rule | What it asks | What the software does |
|---|---|---|
| Construction Industry Scheme | Working as a sub-contractor, you suffer a 20% deduction when registered, 30% when not, nothing with gross payment status. As a sole trader, gross status needs £30,000 turnover in the last 12 months, excluding VAT and materials | Shows deductions per invoice and builds a yearly overview |
| Making Tax Digital | Sole traders over £50,000 qualifying income since 6 April 2026, over £30,000 from April 2027, over £20,000 from April 2028. Quarterly updates by 7 August, 7 November, 7 February and 7 May | Keeps income and costs per quarter, ready to send |
| VAT on renovation | Work on an occupied home is standard-rated at 20%, including the tiles you supply and fix. 5% can apply to homes empty for two years and to conversions | Sets the rate per job and keeps the evidence for 5% |
| Asbestos | Assume asbestos is present in buildings built or refurbished before 2000. Before stripping out old floor tiles or coatings, the contractor assesses or assumes it | Asks the build year at survey and stores the assessment |
| Electrics in bathrooms | Electrical work around a bath or shower is a special location under Part P, so a new underfloor heating circuit there is notifiable: a registered electrician or Building Control | Flags jobs with underfloor heating for a second trade |
| Waste carrier | Defra guidance puts construction waste, even rubble from your own strip-out, in the upper tier: £191.02, renewed every 3 years | Reminds you before renewal |
Six quotes a week, worked out
| Task | Now per week | With software per week |
|---|---|---|
| Typing up quotes | 9 hours | 3 hours |
| Calling back for sizes and photos | 1 hour 20 | close to nothing |
| Hunting for batches and spares | 1 hour | a glance at the phone |
Getting started with VBS
- A conversation on site or online: you walk us through an enquiry, from first call to invoice.
- A proposal with a fixed price per project. A website starts from EUR 1,500; software and AI get their own price after the conversation.
- First the site and the enquiry form, then the job sheet or the quote. Each part works on its own.
- Adjusted after launch with what you notice on site: a missing field, a question the form should ask.
- Want to talk first? Get in contact.
Trades that share the bathroom
A bathroom is rarely tiling alone. The plumber, the electrician and sometimes the joiner pass through as well. See renovation, kitchen fitters and joinery. Working mostly for main contractors? Read website for contractors and software for construction companies. For marketing beyond the site, see marketing for construction companies.
For SN Group, a building firm in Ghent that does bathrooms and floors, we built a site with a cost calculation wizard: see our work for SN Group.
Tilers ask us
Does a sole trader tiler need a website?
If you want to choose your own jobs, yes. Customers search for a tiler in their area and want to see bathrooms before they call. A site with a page per kind of work, your area and a form that asks for sizes and photos does that work while you are on site.
How much is a tiling website design?
A website from VBS starts from EUR 1,500. After a conversation you get a fixed price for the project, depending on the pages, the photos and whether an enquiry form with photo upload comes with it.
Can a tiler charge 5% VAT on a bathroom?
Usually not. Work on an occupied home is standard-rated at 20%. The 5% rate can apply when the home has been empty for two years before the work, or for a conversion, under conditions set out in VAT Notice 708.
Do I need a waste carrier licence to take old tiles to the tip?
Most likely yes. The free lower tier covers carrying waste you produce yourself, but Defra guidance puts construction and demolition waste in the upper tier, even from your own job. In England that costs £191.02 and is renewed every three years. Check your own case on gov.uk before you load the van.
Does the job sheet work in a basement with no signal?
We can build it to save what you enter without signal and send it as soon as there is a connection again. We go through that in the first conversation, as it depends on what you want on the job sheet.
More bathrooms in the diary, fewer evenings at the laptop?
Tell us how a week runs for you. We show you where we would start, with a fixed price.
