SEO for heating firms
SEO for HVAC companies that want survey requests, not clicks
Homeowners search for a heat pump, a boiler repair or air con in their own town. This is how a heating firm turns up there, and turns those searches into booked surveys.

Heating engineers get found in three places
SEO for HVAC companies is local work. A homeowner in Exeter with a dying oil boiler does not search for a brand; they type "air source heat pump installer", "boiler repair" or "air conditioning installation" and look at the map, the first few results and the reviews. A heating firm that is not in those three places does not get the call, however good its engineers are.
Plenty of heating firms run a website that was built once and left alone: one page for every service, no towns, a contact form that asks for a name and nothing else. Below is what we would change, in the order it tends to pay off: the Google profile, the service pages, the proof that you are certified, and the content that answers the money questions homeowners ask before they ring anyone.

- A Google profile with photos of real installs
- A form that asks what you need before the survey

Searches a heating firm should own
Not every search is worth the same. Someone typing "heat pump grant" is months away from a decision; someone typing "boiler not working" wants an engineer today. Sort your pages by search intent and give each one the page that answers it.
| What people type | What they want | The page that answers it |
|---|---|---|
| air source heat pump installer plus a town | A firm nearby that can survey and quote | A page per system and per area you cover, with a form for a survey |
| boiler repair, boiler not working | An engineer today or tomorrow | A breakdown page with a phone number at the top and your hours |
| air conditioning installation | A quote for one or two rooms | An air-to-air page with photos of real installs and what a survey covers |
| boiler upgrade scheme installer | Someone who can apply for the grant | A page that explains the grant plainly, from an MCS certified firm |
| heat pump service, annual boiler service | A booked visit and a fair price | A service page with a booking form and what the visit includes |
The last two columns are where most sites fall short. A single "Our services" page cannot rank for five different needs, and a grant page without a way to book a survey sends the reader back to Google.
The map pack decides most calls
For local trades the map with three firms above the results gets most of the attention. What puts you there is your Google Business Profile: the right primary category, the towns you serve, photos of your own work and a steady stream of reviews. Set it up with create a Google Business Profile and pick the categories with Google Business Profile categories. For a firm that fits heat pumps and boilers, the primary category should match the work you most want more of, with the others as secondary ones.
Reviews matter most when they name the job and the town. Ask after every commissioning visit, while the customer is still pleased with a warm house. A link that opens the review form in one tap is easy to make with our Google review link generator; the rest of the routine is in get more Google reviews.
Job photos that land on the profile
- Photos go into the handover packNameplate, outdoor unit and settings are filed with the address, ready for the MCS certificate and the BUS claim.
- The F-gas record stays with the unitRefrigerant, charge and every visit sit with the system, even when a colleague does next year's service.
- The office invoices the same dayHours, parts and extras are ready for the invoice. Nobody types up paper sheets.
An example of what we can build, with made-up addresses. You choose which fields a job sheet has.
Service pages per system and per town
A heating engineer covering Mid Devon needs more than one page. Give each system you want to sell its own page: air source, ground source, air-to-air, boiler replacement, breakdowns and servicing. Then add pages for the towns where you really work, each with something that belongs to that place: jobs you did there, the housing you meet, how far you travel.
Watch out for town pages that only swap the place name. Google treats them as thin copies and so do readers. A page for Tiverton with three installs, a photo of a 1930s cottage with radiators kept, and the note that you also cover Bampton and Halberton is worth ten pages with the same text.
How we write those pages is on SEO copywriting, and the wider local routine is in local SEO tips. If the site itself is the problem, the brief for a trades site is on website for contractors, and what a new one costs in Britain is in website cost UK.
Certificates that earn the click
Homeowners spending ten thousand pounds on a heat pump want to see that you are allowed to fit it. Your certificates are proof for them and signals for search, so show them where a reader looks, not only in the footer.
| Proof | Why it matters to a homeowner | Where it belongs on the site |
|---|---|---|
| MCS certification | Only an MCS certified installer can apply for the Boiler Upgrade Scheme on their behalf | The heat pump pages, the grant page and the quote form |
| Gas Safe registration | Gas work may only be done by a Gas Safe registered engineer | Boiler and breakdown pages, next to the phone number |
| F-gas company certification | Work on refrigerant needs a certified firm and qualified engineers | Air con and heat pump pages |
| Reviews that name the job | Proof from neighbours that the system works in a house like theirs | Every service page, filtered by job type |
| Photos of your own installs | Shows the outdoor unit, the pipework and the tidiness | Project pages and the Google profile |
Add your firm's details as structured data, so search engines read the same name, address, phone number and service area as on your profile. The technical side, from page speed to structured data, is covered in technical SEO; a quick check of your own pages is the SEO checker.
Grant and VAT pages that bring better enquiries
The questions homeowners ask before they ring are about money. How much is the grant, does my house qualify, what about VAT. A heating firm that answers those clearly gets readers who are further along and enquiries that are easier to quote.
Write those pages from the official rules and date them. The Boiler Upgrade Scheme pays £7,500 towards an air source or ground source heat pump in England and Wales, £2,500 for air-to-air, with an extra £1,500 for homes on oil or LPG until March 2027. The installer applies; the owner confirms. Energy-saving materials such as heat pumps carry 0 % VAT until 31 March 2027. Each of those lines changes the decision, so each belongs on a page with a button to book a survey.
A reader who has just learnt that the grant comes off the price is ready for a form that asks about the house. That is why we put the survey request on the same page, not on a separate contact page three clicks away.
An enquiry that arrives ready for the survey
An example of what we can build. The AI prepares from your own way of working, you decide.
Search brings the enquiry; what you do in the next hour decides whether it becomes a job. A form that asks for the age of the house, the fuel use and photos of the boiler gives you a head start. AI can sort those enquiries and draft a reply for a person to approve, as set out in AI customer service. Behind it sits the rest of the firm: the board, the job sheets and the files that carry the grant paperwork, all described on our page for heat pump installers.
Seasons that set the content calendar
Heating work follows the weather, and so do searches. Breakdowns peak when the first cold week arrives, air con enquiries when the first warm week does, and heat pump decisions are made in the calmer months in between. Publish and update pages before the season, not during it: Google needs weeks to pick up a new page, as explained in how long does SEO take.
What SEO costs in general is in SEO cost, and what you can do yourself before you hire anyone is in do SEO yourself.
Before a heating firm's page goes live
- The page answers one need: a system, a town or a breakdown, not all three
- MCS, Gas Safe or F-gas details sit where the reader decides, not only in the footer
- The form asks what the engineer needs for a survey, and the phone number is tappable
- The grant and VAT lines carry the date you last checked them
- At least one photo of your own install, with the customer's address left out
- The page links to the next step: a booking, a survey request or a call
Working with us on search
- A conversation about your areaWhich towns, which systems, which work you want more of and which you would rather turn down. We look at your profile and your site with you, so the plan fits the jobs you want.
- A fixed price per projectWe set a fixed price for the pages, the profile and the follow-up. Websites start from 1,500 euro. The ongoing search work is on local SEO and SEO.
- Measured in enquiriesWe count calls and survey requests, not only positions. You see which pages bring work and which do not, and we change what does not.
