Survey practice marketing
Marketing for land surveyors that brings the right survey enquiries
Homeowners search for the problem, architects and developers for a practice they can rely on twice a month. This is what puts a survey practice in front of both, survey type by survey type and town by town, and what to measure along the way.

Clients pick a surveyor before they ring
Marketing for land surveyors has two audiences that search in different ways. A homeowner with a fence dispute types a problem and a town. An architect, developer or conveyancer looks for a practice that turns a topo or a lease plan round reliably, and comes back with the next job. A practice that answers both gets enquiries that fit its work, instead of calls about the price of a house valuation.
This page sets out the searches that bring survey work, the pages and the Google profile behind them, how repeat work from referrers is won, and what to track month by month. What we build inside the practice, from job sheets to a board for crews and kit, is on software for land surveyors.

Searches that turn into survey instructions
Survey searches are rarely about the profession. They are about a job and a place: a land surveyor near a town, a boundary survey before a fence goes up, a topographic survey for a planning application, a measured building survey before an extension, a lease plan for a flat. Each of those is a different client with a different budget and a different deadline.
| Search behind the enquiry | Who usually searches | What the page has to answer |
|---|---|---|
| A land surveyor in a town | Homeowners, small builders | Which surveys you do, which towns you cover, how fast you can visit |
| A boundary survey | Homeowners in a dispute, their solicitors | What a boundary survey can and cannot settle, what to send, how a report is used |
| A topographic survey | Architects, developers, self-builders | Deliverables, formats, typical turnaround, what the architect needs |
| A measured building survey | Architects, landlords, facilities managers | Floor plans, elevations, sections, point clouds and the formats you supply |
| A lease plan | Conveyancers, landlords | What HM Land Registry expects on a plan and how long it takes |
A boundary page also has to be honest: HM Land Registry title plans show general boundaries, and if the exact line is disputed only a court can settle it. A page that says so, and explains what a surveyor's report adds, earns more trust than one that promises to end the argument.
One services page or a page per survey type
Most survey practice websites list every service on one page. That page rarely ranks for any of them.
- What a searcher finds
- One services pageA list of eight services, two lines each
- A page per survey typeThe survey they searched for, explained with deliverables
- Towns
- One services pageA county name in the footer
- A page per survey typeThe towns you cover, on the page that matters
- The enquiry
- One services pageA general contact form
- A page per survey typeA form that asks for the title number, a sketch or the architect's brief
- What you can measure
- One services pageEnquiries in total
- A page per survey typeEnquiries per survey type, and which type wins work
Start with the two or three survey types that bring most of your fee income, write those pages properly, and add the rest when they earn it.
Your Google profile carries the local half
For a homeowner the choice often happens on the map, before any website is opened. Three things decide which practice is shown and which one gets the call. A complete Google Business Profile, with the right categories, the towns you serve and photos from real sites. Reviews that mention the survey and the town, which you can ask for with a short link from the review link generator and a routine described in how to get more Google reviews. And a website that confirms what the profile promises.
That combination is what we mean by local SEO. It is slower than paid ads and it keeps working when you stop paying; SEO or Google Ads explains when one makes sense next to the other, and Google Ads cost what clicks in a niche like this tend to cost.
Architects, developers and conveyancers send repeat work
The steadiest survey work does not come from search at all. It comes from the design team and the property side: an architect who needs a topo on every new project, a developer with three sites a year, a conveyancing firm that orders lease plans every week. Marketing to them looks different. They want proof that you deliver on time in the format they work in, and a quick way to instruct you.
A project page per typical job does that better than a brochure: the brief, the site, what you delivered and how fast, with permission from the client and without their confidential drawings. An instruction form for trade clients that remembers their details saves them time. And a simple list of who sent you work this year, and who has gone quiet, is worth more than a newsletter; that list can live in a custom CRM or in the job system you already use. Construction firms run into the same split between homeowners and trade clients, which is why marketing for construction companies reads as a useful neighbour to this page.
The enquiry lands on the surveyor's job sheet
- The title plan sits beside the measured lineHM Land Registry plans show general boundaries. The app keeps the title plan, the old deeds and your survey together on one job.
- Terms are on the job before anyone drives outSigned terms of engagement, the fee basis and the conflict check are attached before the site visit is booked.
- Survey data stays in your own softwarePoint clouds and drawings live in your CAD package. The phone shows the job and what is still missing.

Before you spend on ads or a new website
- Your Google profile lists every town you cover and has photos from at least five recent sites
- Each survey type that brings real fees has its own page with deliverables, formats and turnaround
- The enquiry form asks for the title number, the address and the survey type, so nobody has to ring back
- Your RICS regulation and qualifications are stated plainly, without claims you cannot back up
- Every enquiry is logged with its source and survey type, so you know what to do more of
- The site loads fast on a phone in a field, with mobile signal and no wifi
Twelve months of marketing for a survey practice
A realistic year has three parts. In the first two to three months the basics go in: the Google profile, the pages for the survey types that matter, the enquiry form and the tracking. An SEO audit of the current site tells you what to keep, and the SEO checker gives a first look in a minute. Between months three and six the pages start to show for town and survey searches, and reviews build up. From month six the work is steady: a new page when a survey type or a town proves itself, project pages for trade clients, and a look every month at enquiries per survey type. How long SEO takes sets out why the first months feel quiet.
None of that needs a big budget. It needs pages written by someone who understands the difference between a topo and a measured survey, which is what our SEO copywriting is for, and a site that is technically sound; technical SEO covers the floor under every ranking. If the site itself needs replacing, we build it as a normal website design project, starting from EUR 1,500.
