Websites: yoga studios
Yoga studio website design that turns a search into a first class
People choose a studio on their phone, in a few minutes. They want the styles, the timetable, the price of a first class and a button to book it. A site that shows all of that at a glance wins.
Someone near you is looking for a class tonight
Good yoga studio website design starts with the person on the sofa at 8pm, phone in hand, who wants to try a class this week. They type "yoga" and the name of their town, look at three studios on the map and decide within a few minutes. They want to know which styles you teach, whether a beginner is welcome, when the next class is and what it costs to try.
A yoga studio website that answers those four questions on the first screen gets the booking. One that opens with a slideshow of sunsets and hides the timetable behind a PDF sends people back to the map. Below you will find what belongs on the site, how it links to your bookings, what it costs and how we build it.
A search in York becomes a taster booking
New booking
Taster yin class on Thursday, asks about the 10-class pass
Ellie, Fulford, today 21:12
- A page per style, with the level and who teaches it
- A Google profile with photos of the studio and the timetable
- A taster class booked in three taps, paid on the spot
Example with made-up studios and reviews.
Most people find a studio through Google Maps, not through a list of links. Your profile there decides whether they click through: the right category, photos of the room in daylight, your opening hours and a steady trickle of reviews. The website then has to keep the promise the profile made. See create a Google Business Profile, Google Business Profile categories and get more Google reviews; a review link in your follow-up email after a first class makes asking easy.
What a first-time visitor looks for
New clients are often nervous. Will I be the only beginner? Do I need my own mat? Can I come if I am pregnant, stiff or recovering from an injury? A good yoga website answers those questions before they are asked, in plain words, next to the class they are about to book. Regulars want something else: the timetable, their credits and a quick way to book next week.
What belongs on a yoga studio website
- The live timetable on the home page, with places still free per class
- A page per style: vinyasa, yin, hatha, reformer Pilates, pregnancy yoga
- A page per teacher with photo, styles, training and the classes they take
- Prices for a drop-in, a class pass, a membership and the intro offer, on one page
- A taster class or intro offer bookable in three taps on a phone
- A page for beginners: what to bring, when to arrive, what happens in the first class
- Workshops and retreats with their own page, price and deposit
- Directions, parking, changing rooms and whether the room is step-free
- Your cancellation window and pass rules, stated once and clearly
- A privacy policy that says who sees health notes and why
The timetable your clients and teachers share
- The waiting list moves up on its ownWhen someone cancels in time, the first person on the waiting list gets the spot and a message. Nobody has to ring round.
- Passes and memberships count alongEvery class comes off the class pass. Whoever is on their last credit gets a link to renew after class.
- Health notes stay with the teacherAn injury or a pregnancy sits on the client's record, but only the teacher of that class can see it.
An example of what we can build, with made-up clients. You choose which fields a class has.
The timetable is the heart of the site
On a studio site the timetable is the page people return to every week. It should never be a PDF or a photo of a whiteboard. We build it as a live list from the same data your bookings run on: class, style, teacher, room, level and places left. A client filters on "beginner" or "evening", taps a class and books.
If you already use a booking platform you are happy with, we link to it neatly, so the site and the platform feel like one place. If your rules do not fit an off-the-shelf package, we build the booking side for you: class caps per mat or reformer, passes that count down, a waiting list that moves up and a cancellation window you choose. What that involves is on booking system for your website and on our page for yoga studios.
Linking a platform or a booking system of your own
Both work. The choice depends on how much your studio differs from the way the platform was built.
- Start
- Link to an existing platformQuick, the platform already works
- Booking built into your siteBuilt around your passes and rules
- Where clients book
- Link to an existing platformOften in the platform's own pages or app
- Booking built into your siteOn your own site, in your own style
- Pass and membership rules
- Link to an existing platformAs far as the platform allows
- Booking built into your siteAs you set them
- Ongoing cost
- Link to an existing platformA monthly fee, often per client or per booking
- Booking built into your siteHosting and maintenance, agreed up front
- Your client list
- Link to an existing platformLives in the platform
- Booking built into your siteLives with you
Starting out with a handful of classes, a linked platform is usually enough. Once your passes, retreats or teachers need their own rules, a system of your own pays off.
Pages per style, per teacher and per area
One page that lists "vinyasa, yin, hatha" in a sentence ranks for none of them. A page per style, with who it suits, what a class feels like, which teachers take it and when it runs, gets found by people searching for that style in your town. The same goes for pregnancy yoga, yoga for runners or reformer Pilates: each is a search of its own.
| Page | What it answers | What it links to |
|---|---|---|
| A style, such as yin | Who it suits, what a class feels like, the level | The classes in that style this week |
| A teacher | How they teach, their training, their classes | Their classes and workshops |
| Beginners | What to bring, when to arrive, the first class | The intro offer |
| Prices | Drop-in, class pass, membership, the rules | Buying a pass or booking a taster |
| A workshop or retreat | Programme, price, deposit, who it suits | Booking with payment |
| Your area | Where you are, parking, nearby towns you serve | The timetable and directions |
Teacher pages matter more than many owners expect. People book a person as much as a class. A photo, a few lines on how someone teaches and the classes they take give a newcomer a reason to choose your Tuesday class. With local SEO we build those pages around the searches people really make in your area, and with SEO we keep them strong over time.
Retreats and workshops that sell themselves
A retreat page has more work to do than a class: the programme per day, the accommodation, what is included, the deposit and the balance date, and who to ask. We build it as its own page with booking and payment, so people sign up without an email chain. Your newsletter then points to it; how to write one people open is in how to write a newsletter.
What a yoga studio website costs
We build websites from 1,500 euro. That covers a site of your own with the pages above, written with you, built to load fast on a phone. A booking system, a members' area or a link to your accounts package comes on top and is priced after our first conversation, as a fixed price per project.
| What you need | What we build | Price |
|---|---|---|
| A sole trader teacher in a hired hall | A site with timetable, styles, prices and a link to booking | Websites from 1,500 euro |
| A studio with its own room and a team | Pages per style and teacher, intro offer, linked bookings | Fixed price after our conversation |
| A studio with reformers, workshops and retreats | Booking built into the site, passes, deposits, waiting list | Fixed price after our conversation |
| Several sites or a teacher training | Locations, training pages, a members' area | Fixed price after our conversation |
How website prices are built up in the UK in general is in website cost UK; a quick estimate for your own case is in our website cost calculator. Want clients to keep your timetable on their home screen? A PWA often does that without an app store, and turning your website into an app explains the options.
Privacy, cookies and health notes
A studio site collects names, emails, payments and sometimes health notes about injuries or pregnancy. Under UK GDPR, data concerning health is special category data: processing it is prohibited unless a condition applies, such as explicit consent for a specified purpose. The booking form asks for that consent, and the note stays visible to the teacher of the class.
Most organisations that handle personal data pay the ICO a data protection fee of 52 or 78 pounds a year unless an exemption applies. Your site also needs a clear privacy policy and, if you use analytics or advertising cookies, a cookie banner. See do I need a privacy policy, do I need a cookie banner and a GDPR compliant website.
Your studio site, step by step
- A conversation about your studioWhich styles you teach, who your clients are, how they book now and what you would like to change. We look at your Google profile and the studios nearby.
- A proposal at a fixed pricePages, booking, retreats: what we build and what we leave out, at a fixed price. Websites start from 1,500 euro.
- Copy and photos with youWe write the pages with you, so they sound like your studio. Photos of your own room and teachers work far better than stock.
- Built, tested on a phone, liveWe test the booking path on a phone as a newcomer would, link your Google profile and go live. After a few weeks we look at where people drop out.
We have not built a yoga studio site yet. Bookings and availability we have: No.4 Lange Ast has an availability calendar from Airbnb and Booking iCal feeds with an enquiry form, and Villa Lidia has a booking form, an availability calendar and a small admin panel, in two languages.
